Camp at the forest's edge or in a freshly mowed hay field on a gorgeous working farm in Southeastern Connecticut any time of the year!

Tons of privacy if you desire, comfortable camping accommodations, indoor barn space can be rented if needed for event hosting. A gorgeous lake just down the hill with a dock to swim out to, a pavilion for picnicking, and our farm store is always open and contains so many delicious products and produce, meats, dairy products, and baked goods. All our own or hyper-local products! Explore our very own trails through the forest of our farm, or enjoy nearby state parks and designated trail systems. It's low key and private, out-of-the-way, but close enough to civilization, and offers a feel-good, inspiring and peaceful experience.

Jess and Jeff were super awesome hosts! You can help with farm work or just relax, whatever works for you. The lake is just down the street and and so are the falls. There is a local brewery near by and a great little "farm stand" right on the property that sells veggies, dairy, eggs, pies, meats and more! We had a ton of kids with us and it was great for them to run around picking up the chickens but would be good for couples too. They have an outdoor bathroom and shower with hot water, a huge fire pit and so much more. Thanks Cold Spring Farm!!!

Beautiful farm and a great camping setting. Would highly recommend to anyone considering staying! Jeff was awesome, and was happy to speak to us about the farm/animals (FYI there’s a peacock!). Would 100% stay again.

We had a great stay at the Cold Spring Farm. The hosts are amazing and the farm is such a beautiful place.
The city nearby has some great restaurants (Vintage) that make use of the food from the farm.

We loved our time at CSF and plan to go back with friends (they have a really crazy capacity for hosting).

Highly recommended.

I had a great stay at the farm! Was greeted by the farmhand Karen and shown around the property, met the animals, and given a little history lesson of the farm. The property is gorgeous and a working farm, so I was made aware right away of the plenty of places I could park my car/set up my tent, but that some areas are off limits due to the farm work. My hosts were so kind, we had great chats about camping and what work they’re up to with the farm, and camping in the field behind the property was so peaceful. I had a great sunset and sunrise. The cows/pigs/goats/peacocks/chickens/dogs/cats were so friendly and made the coziest environment. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a quieter stay in the area!

I want to clarify what this site is like so people can plan accordingly. The listing is a bit different from what this site actually has.

- There are no campfires at the campsites. There is one large bonfire in the middle of the working farm area. It wasn’t sufficient to cook on because of its size and there were things like chicken wire in it. We didn’t end up using the bonfire because it felt awkward to be in the middle of the working farm area (overlooking trucks and the house was only a few feet away). Since the reality didn’t match what the listing said, the host let us borrow her small propane grill which we used out in the field.

- The campsites are anywhere you want to be in the large field. It’s not listed, but you’re not allowed to have your car in the field by your site. This can be a big difference for people who preferred to go back-and-forth to their car for things like garbage and essentials throughout the night.

- There are also no picnic tables at the campsites as the listing eludes to. There are just picnic tables around the large bonfire. We ended up taking one of the folding tables from that area and carrying it across the field to our site.

I recommend the host provide more pictures of the camp sites/field and the bonfire area so other campers better know what to expect.

The site would probably work for a group of people who want to sit around a bonfire and then when it’s time to go to bed walk to a tent in a field.

Response from Jessica, the Host, on September 9th, 2019

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your experience. Our "dispersed sites" listing implies our many options for camping, some near your vehicle, and others away from your vehicle. We practice leave no trace, or LNT, and we are careful to manage the practices and use of our space, which is also our livelihood. We certainly don't want folks driving into the middle of our hay fields where we harvest food for our animals and for others, and that is why we were so careful to explain that upon your arrival. I was happy to lend you my personal grill and propane tank, but many folks do bring their own for cooking purposes. We do ask that campers come prepared with their own equipment for cooking. Our big campfire is centrally located and is best used for relaxation and marshmallow-roasting. There are picnic tables near the campfire area as well as under our 100 year old maple tree. They are meant to stay where we place them. As you could tell, our farm is a working farm and we are very actively working on projects on a regular basis. We are happy to answer questions our campers may have and also to share a bit of information about our farm and lifestyle. Be well.
