Tiredhouse camping
Although there are quite a few campsites, most are very secluded down in the trees and you feel like you're totally isolated. Walking distance to hot springs, biking distance to town (even with young children). Our hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, and even entertained our feral children.
Pack light; you'll carry your stuff from the road to your site, which could be a quarter mile in. Be prepared to bring your own water and pack out your own trash.

Tiredhouse camping
We had a great time camping in Salida at Tiredhouse. When I went to book, the Hipcamp website only showed availability for Friday but we had wanted to tent camp for two nights. I inquired with Lori hoping there would be possibility that we might stay on a second night in the event of a cancellation, and she immediately assured us that staying an additional night would be no problem! We got a nice shady spot alongside the river and a camp fire ring. We cooked over the camp fire with a grill grate and Lori even let us borrow a pot as we misunderstood the ad and didn't bring our own. It was fun to pass the llamas along the path when we'd come and go from the site. Lori suggested a hike to Browns Creek Falls in Salida and it was gorgeous! All in all, a lovely and memorable stay!

Tiredhouse camping
Very relaxing escape conveniently tucked away in town. My kids loved feeding and visiting with the llamas in the mornings, I loved relaxing by the river and Lori was a great host. We definitely will return!

Tranquile and Beautiful Camping!
This was my first time trying Hipcamp and it did not disappoint. Tiredhouse camping was a serene and calming getaway just steps away from the town of Salida. We stayed in campsites 5/6/7 with 3 tents and 6 people total. It was private and lush with grass and cottonwoods dotting the Little Arkansas River. We loved being able to hop in the water and relax in the sun while watching the llamas roam through the property. The directions were clear Lori was helpful and inviting. Highly recommend and we will be back!

Weekend stay in Salida
Very nice, clean, quiet and pleasant. Very close to town. Right on the river, so you can sleep to the sounds of nature.

Beautiful, hidden campsite
This is our new favorite campsite! It is so close to the cute, historic Salida downtown and the main road, yet you can’t hear anything but the moving water flowing right along the campsites. The campsites (although very close together- we could see both our neighbors very clearly) were all lined along the river each with a fire pit. In front of you is a view of the rolling hills, vast trees and the river. Behind you is a field with two free-roaming llamas all facing snowcapped mountains. It was quite literally magical. Lori is reliable, helpful and knowledgeable- thanks for the hiking advice, it was great!
