Let me preface this by saying I do primitive & off grid camping.
This site is not maintained, but is disheveled.
The shed was infested with spiders (like 30 in a nest) & the grounds were infested with ants (giant mounds and tiny portholes).
After a single night with the degree of pests, the dogs & kids were so miserable we sought out other arrangements.
The shower had fallen down, the host met us to advise us to steer clear of the needed trees for shade as the branches created a hazard for us and the vehicles. The trees in question surrounded the fire pit, shed and hammocking areas.
It was windy -
This effectively made the site unsafe in a myriad of ways and we had to make other arrangements. This was not ideal for the fourth of july week.
We are adaptable humans and it ended up working out, but I would not stay in this site again, despite the beautiful views.
Also- for those who do less research, the dolores river in this area should not be counted on for swimming. the currents can be aggressive, especially for novice swimmers or pets. There is not service and it is beautiful, but the dismal and unkept nature of the site (despite the owner living a few minutes away and showing up randomly, but not keeping to her word to return with the trash bin we added). WASTE of money and huge Disappointment.
