This was our first time using Hipcamp, so we didnt know what to expect. The High Desert Ranch was great. Sarah, our camp host was attentive to our questions prior to our arrival and available during our stay. The views were breathtaking and the night skies were un matched. We will definitely be staying again!
Sarah was an outstanding host. She was personable, helpful, kind, and even found an extension cord for us when our electric didn’t reach. The sky at her site is amazing. The view is spectacular. We really can’t say enough about how great this place is.
Peaceful and scenic
This site has beautiful scenery and is spaced out nicely between sites. The host was very friendly and accommodating. Great getaway and only an hour from the Sand Dunes national park.
Gorgeous views with mountain ranges almost 360 degrees around you. Definitely recommend staying here! Close to town, to the stupas, and not a far drive to the Great Sand Dunes National Park
Amazing views and good times!
We were there for 4 days/ 3 nights. This place is AMAZING! It’s as private and has all the great views everyone talks about in the reviews. Everyone was super helpful and very nice!
We did the sand dunes/ boarding and 4x4ing the first day. The trick is to combine the two; too many people sledding and boarding at the entrance... but some very nice and not crowded spots if you 4X4 up the primitive trail.
Next we did the Gator Farm and Zapata Falls. Zapata Falls was so much more than we thought... highly recommend, but be prepared for a very bumpy road to the falls. The Gator Farm was awesome; but it’s basically tiger king with gators so, weigh the ethic on that one.
Other awesome things to do are the hot springs, Sand Dunes swimming pool, and the UFO viewing area :)
The night sky’s here are breath taking; can’t beat just looking at the stars from your camp site... bring a telescope for sure!
Great hosts. not private
Great and accommodating hosts. Site very clean. Great location for access to mountain trails but unfortunately we use Hipcamp to stay away from crowds and other campers. This site was nowhere as private as we thought it would be. Many sites did have plenty of room and space but ours unfortunately we’re just very close to others
