Pitch a tent and enjoy the beautiful views! This is the smallest and most secluded camp spot, on the back of the 10-acre property. This beautiful spot overlooks the valley and you can enjoy watching the sunrise. It is not suitable for a camper or pop up, but possibly a teardrop.
The property is a 7 minute drive from Cripple Creek where you can enjoy gaming, history, festivals, and learning about mines and touring them. It is 15 minutes from Mueller State Park and Dome Rock State Park where there are many activities. There are ATV trails about a half hour away and many beautiful hiking trails. Only minutes from the gold belt Scenic byway, enjoy the beautiful ride to Canyon City via Phantom Canyon Road or Shelf Road. This spot can accommodate car camping, a small RV, a tent, or a slide in camper on a truck. This is not appropriate for a camper or large RV due to limited space to turn around because of the forest. This site is 420 friendly.

The vibe at Brown Dog's Lookout
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Erica's place is a nice private and primitive site. Gorgeous view of the sunset and a good amount of space to park your tent! You have to drive past a few areas with no trespassing signs but if you follow Erica's directions you'll get there just fine.
Brown Dog's lookout was great! especially when compared to the average public campground. Erika was great! easy to contact and quick to respond. She even put out a grill for us before we arrived. The site was clean and had a nice view.
When you want to slow down time, find complete solitude, reconnect with nature and to unwind then the Brown Dog Lookout is where you need to be. Off-grid camping at its finest. The host provided a propane grill and cute table with shade, you need to bring everything else. I'm the first to admit, I'm bad at directions, but once I found this place, it was well worth it. Erica, the host was great at communicating with me. Amazing views of the meadows and mountains and the herd of big horn sheep!
Erica's spot was lovely! Plenty of trees around the clearing, we were on a hill overlooking a small valley. It felt very remote, even though we had passed houses and RVs along the way! No animal sightings, although we did hear an owl in the middle of the night! Would highly recommend!
