This campground is OK but camping is also available at Zapata Falls Recreation Area (BLM land). We’d recommend Zapata Falls BLM land - a more secluded area - over the Mosca Campground in San Luis State Park. Obviously be sure to visit Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve!

Kite flying at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.Views on the sand dunes in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.Snow melt from the mountains creates a beach area at the base of the dunes (this occurs between April and early June with the strongest flow typically late May to early June) in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.Hike to Zapata Creek in Zapata Falls Recreation Area (a 3.5 mile drive up a rough road).
