San Luis Star Gazer Retreat was a beautiful 360 view plot of land in the middle of the San Luis valley! Although there were no amenities the separation from the world was beautiful. I think maybe one car drove by our entire stay. 2 wheel drive cars may have a tough time getting over the bank on the road to the campsite. When we arrived there was no cleared area to pitch a tent. A perfect spot for any 4 wheel drive car campers.

View of the campsite with Blanca in the distance. Campsite was bare bones but plenty of space top set up a tent and park your car or RV. Views of Mount Blanca were stunning. Beautiful open skies. Not much going on here expect your campsite. No people no problems.

Thanks for camping Erik! Glad you had a nice time connecting with the outdoors. I appreciate your advice, going to take action on this by forming a more clear driveway/entrance with a totem for easy arrival.

A remote, bare bones site that offers great views of the stars at night. Come prepared with everything that will make you comfortable, as there is literally nothing more than a fire pit (check on local fire bans before you light one!) on site. A great location for a no-frills, SILENT getaway.

Jamie was easy to communicate with and the directions were spot-on. We really appreciated that it was very private. The 5 acres back up to a road with a home across the street. The homeowner was out of town while we were there so we felt nicely secluded. If he had been there, the fire-pit and some cleared-out space for tents would have been within eyesight of his property. A neighbor who was watching his place stopped by one morning to say hello to us and she was incredibly nice (as was her dog). Everything was what we expected. The place had a shovel to clear away brush...it was also helpful to build a cat-hole. We were only about 10-15min drive from town, about 25min from Great Sand Dunes National Park. Awesome central but secluded location. We were really happy we ended up staying on Jamie's land.
