Relatively quiet, rural, scenic
Excellent place. Area is very rural and quiet. The land is in a cleared out field, so finding a private place isn't as easy, and you can be seen from the road. Its in the center of a swath of mountain ranges that is breath taking. The road getting there is also pretty hairy at times, but we had a newer Subaru and it made the trek just fine.
Off the grid get-a-away
We checked out Hipcamp as a last minute lodging option and found Ryan’s place in Capital City! Wow what a view to wake up to every morning and what amazing stars to fall asleep to at night! It was exactly what our lil family was wanting in getting off the grid! The only things that I would mention for others looking at this property is know that the road to get up the mountain is a bit rocky and on a section of unmaintained road, but with that said we made it with a 2 wheel drive pulling a low clearance pop up camper. Also it is a stretch that is traveled by OHV vehicles but those only were going back and forth for the afternoon and all was quiet in mornings and evenings. And Lake City just a short drive down the mountain is a quaint small town to refresh, grab a bite to eat, or explore. Overall I would highly recommend Ryan’s place for an adventurous and quiet off the grid getaway.
Beautiful property, great location off the Alpine Loop. As others posted you are right off a well traveled dirt road but the views and access to hiking are phenomenal.
