Nancy’s yurt was an experience I’ll be coming back to Colorado for! Where do I begin? Obviously, the fire-heated hot tub that Jim prepared for us, nestled in a small alcove of trees next to a stream! It was perfectly heated and quickly became our favorite post-hike recovery. Speaking of hikes, the hosts also carved out a trail in the mountainside behind their house, which became our favorite sunset viewing location. The yurt itself was perfect for all of our needs, feeling like a more luxurious version of camping, complete with indoor heating via a wood stove and/or the propane heater, an oven, a very comfortable bed, dishes and cookware, and a sink with large water supply. It was also neat getting to see how to live sustainably, and wow was Nancy’s greenhouse impressive! The location was prime for star gazing, and it was an short straight shot to downtown Crested Butte which had great restaurants and shopping. All around, this was the perfect rental for exploring all that Crested Butte and the mountains have to offer.
Nancy and Jims property is one of most beautiful places we have ever been. The views are breathtaking, the air is fresh, and the hosts are lovely. The property is peaceful and off the grid, which is all we hoped to spend the weekend decompressing and escaping our city lives. They are also 10ish minutes from downtown Created Butte, Gunnison, and tons of hikes which was ideal. When we arrived, Nancy and Jim gave us a tour of the amazing property and showed us the basics. We also took a late night dip in the wood burning hot tub, where we got to relax and breathe in the mountain air before bed. It’s also worth noting that the the owners cat and dog are adorable and always gave us a warm welcome. If you have a sense of adventure and a love for nature, I would highly recommend staying here. We look forward to coming back next year! Thanks again!

Juli it was great to see you at Round Mountain again. Thanks for bringing Grace and enjoying the yurt and farm. We’re so glad you appreciated the peace and quiet our property offers. We look forward to seeing you here again... and so do Samson and Wiley:)
Nancy's yurt and entire property was a phenomenal place to stay! We were so impressed by not only the "off the grid" property powered by solar panels and a wind mill, but the thoughtfulness and attention to detail for every part of our stay. The directions to get there were incredibly helpful, Nancy greeted us when we arrived and had very helpful written instructions on how everything worked. The place was cozy, clean and even had hammocks, a firepit already filled with wood and a fire powered hot tub. Peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable stay! We highly recommend to everyone looking for a peaceful glamping site in the area!
This place is a gem right outside of Crested Butte town. Super comfortable and spacious yurt on Nancy and Jim's Farm. It has everything you need for a getaway including a wood-fired hot tub. Loved our stay at RMI, thank you Nancy and Jim for a wonderful stay!
Nancy and Jim were by far the best hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting! Not only was the hospitality great, the site itself is comparable to none.
Looking for an off the grid experience with some of the best Crested Butte has to offer just 10 miles up the road? This is the yurt for you. Not only is this yurt wonderfully isolated in the most beautiful setting, it is well maintained with a vast array of extra amenities! A wood fired hot tub in the back hangout niche of the yurt was started and heated up with just one single text to Jim whenever we wanted! There is a private trail on the property as well that can be hiked at any time. To add the cherry on top, the farm dog Sameson was always around to receive all of the lovins. Nancy and Jim are truly pioneers of the off the grid game in Crested Butte and to experience off the grid living is a pleasure here!

Nancy and her husband Jim were awesome! The Yurt sits about 20 yards from their own home. There is plenty of privacy, a big fire pit, a grill, a wood fired hot tub, and plenty of wood for your stay. They were very kind people and very accommodating to my family and I. They were also very informative about off the grid living. I highly recommend staying at their yurt. Pretty views and very relaxing.

Thanks for your kind words Chad. It was a pleasure hosting you.
The Round Mountain Institute yurt is a try unique experience and very well decorated and kept. There is a fire hot tub in the back which I particularly enjoyed. Also the lovely feather bed. Nancy was a very attentive host and made sure to welcome me with open arms with great recommendations for food and activities in town.
Because the site is eco friendly, be prepared for the outhouse and separate bathroom. Very clean and fully operational, much nicer than every camping site I’ve been too, but not attached to the yurt.
Nancy and Jim were lovely and very welcoming! It was great to get a tour upon first arrival and meeting the adorable Samson. The story of the farms upbringing is inspiring, and don’t get me started on how amazing that hot tub is! We are very thankful for this opportunity.
