No one else around you!
100% Nature. You, stars, deer, elk, eagles (yes, they have a nest on the property).... alone!
No sounds of neighboring campers.
Sleep in the cabin or under the stars.... or in your tent. Your choice.
Where is this?
From Colorado Springs... just on the back side of Pikes Peak. Come through Woodland Park/Divide.
From Denver, just come south to Colorado Springs or through Deckers... gorgeous drive, stop in Florissant to see the National Fossil Beds Park, then finish off the drive to your secluded get away.
Closest groceries... 40 min from Canon City, Colorado.
On the back side of Pikes Peak and above the Arkansas River is where three county boundaries meet, Teller, Park, and Fremont. Remote. Quiet. Cripple Creek and the west side of Pikes Peak nearby, star filled nights, ponderosa pine trees surrounding you. Maybe you have escaped Denver or Colorado Springs to hike off of Teller County Road 1 toward Cripple Creek. Or maybe you want to explore the Florissant Fossil Beds (30 min east) or climb Mount Piscah. Have you planned a get-away to the Royal Gorge, float or fish the Arkansas River (40 min west)? Or do you want time to yourself for spiritual renewal, thinking, writing, sleeping. Set up your tent on a canyon ridge or rent the small cabin in a valley.

Have you ever wanted to spend the night in a small, comfortable, cozy cabin in the middle of the Colorado wilderness? Lucky you, it's here. Everything you need, but nothing more. Full of logs, a few small beds, and plenty of character, you'll be able to fill your lungs with the fresh air and beauty while looking at one of Colorado's most iconic 14'ers, and return home to a perfect place for cards and games with all your friends and relations. A few things to remember: no electricity or running water, so you need to carry enough of the latter for the duration of your stay - luckily, with a 4wd car its not a problem to drive up the old river bed and on the two track dirt road to the cabin so you can bring plenty. Make sure not to miss the turnoff, it comes quick and isn't obvious. Look at the pictures, and follow the lat/long coordinates and you'll be fine.
We had an absolute blast here over Labor Day weekend. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was awesome. We had a large group of adults and children from age 4 to age 9. We set up a little tent city just up and to the left of the cabin where we found the flattest terrain. The land directly around the cabin was perfect for our kiddos to explore freely as the fence line made a perfect boundary to keep them within easy ear shot but made them feel free as birds to explore the amazing rocks and creek beds and rock outcroppings.
After we set up camp we followed the road past the cabin in our 4x4s about as far as we could go and then ventured into the canyon to explore on foot.
Tip for finding the red entrance gate. You will encounter two cattle guards on your way in on CO 11 (High Park Ranch Road). Once you pass the second cattle guard look off to your left and you will see it within a few seconds. Tip: AT&T had a great signal here but the Verizon customers in the group were out of luck. FYI!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun adventure. The owner is great. We'll be back!
This cabin was cozy, well kept and perfect for our group of 5. If you're looking for an off-the-grid spot to spend a weekend away, this is it. Spent a night enjoying the warmth of the fire, doing yoga on the porch at sunrise the next morning, and exploring the endless BLM land that borders the property the next day. Disclaimer: this cabin is very remote. Talk details with the Host beforehand, follow her directions (especially as they relate to once you're past the first property gate), and be smart about preparedness (read: lots of water, food, etc.). Had such an incredible experience here. Can't wait to go back. :)
This place is a perfect little getaway and I'm reluctant to even type this because I don't want the secret to get out. A primitive cabin set deep into her land, there are about 100 acres to explore and we never even made it past her fence to the massive BLM land. Keli is an amazing host and sent us a ton of information beforehand. I will definitely be back.
Keli really has a beautiful piece of land. This was the perfect cabin to get away from all the chaos will definitely be back. Keli was also super friendly and helped so much over the phone and even told us what to expect and bring! 10/10 experience!
