The king-size bed is placed next to this opening so that guests' attention is often balanced between the activities beyond the dome and the soundtrack of noises from the forest inches away. Heat is maintained through a well-stocked wood-burning stove and all the necessary tools to maintain a roaring fire late into the night. There is a leather rocking chair in which guests very well might fade into ultimate relaxation. The chandelier of course, reveals the rafters in ever changing lights and shadows of the soaring roof rafters with the morning and evening river breezes.
Directly outside, near the entrance, is an outdoor simple kitchen with limited cold water steel sink with prep area, ice refrigerator and gas stove. There is a composting toilet by Everlet in a horse trailer with all the niceties 20 paces from the yurt along a solar-lighted path. There is a four-person teak table directly on the river for outdoor dining. The Grove Yurt is the perfect place for rest, relaxation and a secluded getaway. It is removed on the south end of a 35 acre parcel. Our closest neighbor Delicious Orchards is known for its hard cider and organic fruit, a leisurely walk through the orchard for delicious food, often live music and a tastes of local produce in season. In addition, guests will have access to the rest of the property that stretches for a quarter of a mile along the riverβs edge. Guests can expect to see amazing wildlife like elk, deer, eagles, red-tailed hawks, king fisher and blue herons and the sweet river otter family known to make an appearance for the most patient observer.

Devon and George have a wonderful property tucked between gorgeous vistas and mountains. With a river, beach, plenty of wood to keep the fire pit, and wood stove within the yurt burning all night. The property is minutes away from breweries, an orchard, a farm to table restaurant, and the best donuts in Colorado. Make sure you're in town Friday morning for those donuts... The hosts were extremely accommodating, and gave us more to do in our stay than we had time for! We cannot wait to visit the Groove Yurts again!

Beautiful area, very private along a creek close to Paonia. Orchard within 15 min walk next door (with fabulous fresh fruit, jelly, cheese, local honey....and a cafe with an outdoor patio) we spent 3 days in the valleys and in outlying mesas. Local wineries, great fishing opportunities and peace and quiet. 1 day it was rainy, but completely wonderful as we were able to read books & play games under the lantern lights. Yurt is very spacious and host have done a wonderful job of making sure you have (water provided nside and an outdoor kitchen/ grilling area and lanterns throughout the yurt). We did bring our sleeping bags and extra supplies (just in case) but we really didnβt need much. The property the yurt is located on is gorgeous, we had a lovely time there and did not want to leave. We will be back soon!

This place is just as great as it sounds. You feel like you are deep in the woods because you are in a cottonwood grove with a river right next to you. However, you are only about 5 minutes from Paonia, which is a wonderful little town to spend some time in. Further, you are in the heart of what seems to be becoming Colorado's wine country, so go tour some excellent vineyards with amazing views.... again, all within minutes of your yurt.
The yurt itself was much bigger than we expected. It has a concrete floor with rugs on it, two tables, a large king bed, some great antiques and enough of a historic kitchen setting to cook a 'camp-friendly' meal. It was too hot when we were there to use, but there is also a nice fireplace within the yurt. The bathroom is right next to the yurt. It is rustic, but for no running water or sewer hookup, it is the best we have used.
The River is extremely close, as in about 15 full steps from the yurt. Better, the property goes along the river for quite a ways, so take a walk, find the 'beach' and read a book on the side of the river and watch the sunset. Note: There are two yurts on the property, one is rustic and the other has more luxuries (we didnβt stay in this one, so canβt elaborate). They are both right on the river and far enough apart that you would have to really try to see each other.
The hosts are both amazing. They were flexible with our arrival (traffic) and walked us through the ins and outs. They were available via text throughout our stay and offered up great information on what to do in the area. We will definitely back.
I had a FANTASTIC stay at Grove Yurt. The yurt was beautiful and the location was unbeatable. George was very helpful and responsive. We went over to the orchard nearby for BBQ and bluegrass the second night of our stay and had a wonderful time. Lots of hiking/fishing nearby. Can't wait to return!!
This secluded yurt is amazing! So much peace and quiet with great star gazing at night. Tons of stuff around the area to do and it was an awesome getaway. The yurt was spacious with tons of land to explore upon! We highly recommend the place!!!!
The Grove Yurt was a perfect getaway! I didn't want to leave. The yurt is very secluded with beautiful views, and plenty of wildlife. George was a great host, and everything was just exactly as I had hoped for. I will definitely be back!
George and Devon have a beautiful property
If you need more light at night, bring your battery operated lanterns.
There are crawdads in the river so if you like hunting, bring a net.
we had a wonderful adventure and our 4 year old loved it.
We just had an amazing weekend spent at George & Devon's yurt, which I can't recommend enough. Perfectly relaxing piece of property with unbelievable views of the West Elk mountains. The yurt itself was charming and had everything we needed. The hosts were extremely warm, welcoming, and accommodating. We would love to come back and stay again!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Grove Yurt. It's secluded in the woods with trails just outside and a river flowing past. We saw countless deer and a few hawks. Since we stayed at the property in late November, it was chilly and the wood-burning stove inside was a godsend. Can't wait to come back!
