Tonda was perfectly welcoming and accommodating of our somewhat late arrival. There is plenty of space and in a lovely area of juniper with a little pond. She even got up in the morning (we were leaving early) to see us off and gave us a little breakfast for the road. Will definitely stay again if we are ever in the area.

Red Earth Ranch is an amazing spot. It is situated on a Mesa near Paonia, Hotchkiss, and Cedaredge. The Grand Mesa is visible in the distance. You have good access to two wilderness areas, Grand Mesa Nat’l Forest, and the Black Canyon.

The cycling is excellent from camp. You can ride many miles on the Mesa and barely see a car. You can also ride to Cedaredge and then head up a 4,500 climb up the Grand Mesa.

The hosts are very gracious. The put a lot of love and work into this land.

We really enjoyed our time at Red Earth Ranch. Tonda and Joe were great hosts. The kids loved the pond and the bunnies. And the views were nice. The bathroom and kitchen facilities were clean and helpful. Be aware that the ranch is on an exposed mesa surrounded by agriculture. Which makes for a unique experience, for sure. But it gets hot and dusty out there too. Fires are only allowed in one limited area too. Overall we had a really nice experience.

Such an amazing place. Tonda is an absolutely wonderful person and was an awesome host. The campsite was perfect next to the pond. I loved the accommodations, being able to cook on a grill was stellar, and who doesn’t love to have a flushable toilet when camping?
Plus, the view was incredible!
Really just an awesome experience and we can’t wait to come back!

Nearby towns let you pickup most anything you forgot. Easy trip toBlackCanyon of Gunnison. Stars, stars & more stars.
