Welcome to Ponder Acres. A Rocky Mountain paradise located between the towns of Lyons and Estes Park, Colorado.A true Colorado experience. Welcome to Ponder Acres! This campsite for two is located in a tiny mountain community bordering thousands of acres of the Roosevelt National Forest. This magical place is the perfect mountain getaway for two friends to unplug from our fast-moving world, or for a couple who want to enjoy a romantic trip to a special place in the Rockies. Just you and the inspiration of nature! The site is just a 15-20 minute drive to Estes Park and 25 minutes from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Camping at it's best. The site is nestled in the shade of ponderosa pines overlooking a seasonal mountain stream. This mountainous area once was the sacred land of a number of Native American  tribes. The area is rich with wildlife. Wild turkey, black bear, mountain lion, deer, hawk, owl & bald eagles inhabit this space. You can spend days exploring the trails nearby in the adjoining Roosevelt National Forest, or make your campsite a base camp to explore one of our nation's most beautiful national parks, Rocky Mountain National Park. Set up your tent a short walk below a charming cabin with your own dedicated use of a cozy garden level space with the essential amenities of home. In the morning the sun rises over the stream below reflecting its rays into the forest. Hummingbirds and songbirds fill the trees with their music. Start your day with a hike along the National Forest trails just steps away from your tent, or a cup of hot coffee from a perch overlooking the river valley below. Stop at the river's edge to cool off in the fresh mountain waters of the Rockies, or take a dip in the swimming hole located at the edge of the property inside the National Forest. After a long day of exploring the local sights of Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, relax in the two person hammock to lazily read a book or steal a nap in the middle of the day. You'll be lulled to sleep by the sounds of a rushing stream. You'll enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.  Notes & Restrictions: ***HIGH FIRE DANGER - No fires or smoking (indoors or outdoors) of any kind permitted. No liquid fuel. Only camping stoves using fuel canisters are allowed. *Strictly limited to 2 campers - both must be over the age of 21* *No trailers or vehicles longer than 21 feet permitted* *No pets - this is to protect the natural setting, wild animals and to keep your pet safe from wildlife* SPECIAL FEATURES: Property bordered by ~1,000 feet of river backing to the National Forest. Rocky Mountain Paradise!
Incredible campsite & lovely host!
Viktor (and his adorable dog, Scooby) we’re incredible hosts - they welcomed us as soon as we arrived and showed us around the property. Viktor offered us coffee each morning and provided us with a list of recommendations, from hikes to restaurants to bars, etc. The campsite was perfect - clean, accessible, and right on a stream that you could fall asleep to and wake up to. Viktor also gave us access to his downstairs bathroom and refrigerator, which was clean and easy to access from the campsite. 10/10 host and experience!

Rocky Mountain Paradise!
Great experience, highly recommend!
My partner and I stayed at Viktor’s while visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. The camping area was clean, quiet and peaceful. Nice view of the mountains as well! We had access to a bathroom and shower, which was great after a long day of hikes. Viktor is a great host. He’s friendly, responds quickly, gave us helpful recommendations and made sure we were settled okay.

Rocky Mountain Paradise!
This HipCamp site is wonderful! Gorgeous view of the mountains! There’s a spot where you can set up a tent in the yard, and there’s also an area downstairs inside (below the house) where you can lounge, rest, hang…and it has a full bathroom with toilet, sink and shower (a luxury for my friend and me, who had been on a 2 week road trip)! Victor was kind and accommodating, he even waited up for us the night we got it to make sure we made it in safely. Friendly host, great living/camping spaces, beautiful scenery, and great amenities.
