Great stopover on a road trip east
I was on a brisk road trip out East from Los Angeles and stopped at North Fork to stay the night, as it was a great (and safer in the current covid-19 era) alternative to staying in a hotel. Bear Tipi was the only one available, and it was more than enough space for me. It was a fantastic, clean structure in a beautiful setting. I booked it the day prior, and Tony and Karen were very responsive with correspondence on the way in. The tipis are stationed in a large field with a wood pile, composting toilets, and a cooking area all easily accessible at the periphery. I met Tony after parking and he was super helpful. My stay was brief - I was back on the road by 6a the next morning - but I had an extraordinary experience and plan to stay again as soon as the opportunity arises. The setting is gorgeous and the drive back to interstate 70 along state highway 133 was breathtaking. Can't wait to get back and use North Fork Tipi Haven as a base to explore more of the area!
I wish i could go every weekend
Wonderful place. The host and hostess learned that it was our son’s birthday and they brought him cupcakes. The place is clean and they run it as a hotel practically. Tipis are comfortable and have mattress/es. Bear Tipi is very spacious. Super family friendly but quiet. Eco friendly. You can even take a shower! It’s our second time and we will repeat soon. Thank you so much!
Everything you could ask for & more
This place is incredible! Everything about it was perfect! The teepee was nice, clean and spacious. The entire property is well maintained and loved. Our hosts were friendly and helpful with local recommendations. The outdoor kitchen was such a nice addition and I did nap in the hammock in the shade of the trees listening to the bubbling brook. The kids had a wonderful time running amuck, as did our dog. The views are phenomenal. The night sky was amazing watching the milky way and shooting stars over our campfire. I loved the sustainability with composting toilets and solar heated water bags for the shower. This was truly and wonderful and relaxing getaway for our whole family.
It was prwtty cool sleeping in a tipi under the stars. It got down to 52 at night, but we weren't too cold- it held the heat pretty good. Woke to the coyotes howling and yippy right before sunrise.
Wished there were more people (social) there to meet and hang out with. Would be fun for a large group- like a family reunion. Tony was very nice and made sure we had what we needed.
Now we can say we have slept in a tipi!
What a magical place at the North Fork Tipi Haven! Karen was great at communicating in the days before our arrival. We were celebrating our son's 9th Birthday and this place made it special! We met Tony, Karen's husband right away when unloading. He was kind and full of great recommendations. He even turned on the sprinklers in the giant field and let the kids go wild running through them. We can't wait to go back.
