Rustic charm with access to durango
This land and it's owners are truly special and one of a kind. Linda and Jeff are the kind of people you want to meet along your journey, and the social animals make it even better. You will be visited by horses, donkeys, and sweet dogs with grounded temperaments. I hope to visit again with more of my family.
A perfect “work-remote” destination
We had an amazing visit on Linda’s land! My parents were first-time Hipcampers, and they downloaded the app before we even left the ranch. We had plenty of room for their small RV and my truck + rooftop tent. We had strong enough WiFi to work remotely during the day, then enjoyed walking the property, meeting the horses & donkeys, and letting our dog swim in the irrigation stream. We stayed up at night & saw the Neowise comet & the Milky Way, among thousands of beautiful stars. The hosts were extremely hospitable, checking in on us but otherwise leaving us to our privacy. Bring binoculars & bug spray! We will gladly be back someday!
Really unique camping experience!
Linda was awesome, very accommodating and spent time showing me around the ranch. My site was next to a canal, so had a gurgling Brook sound. Got to meet and feed the donkeys and horses.
We had a wonderful first leg of our vacation thanks to Linda and Jeff. Loved the views and our little tent site. Definitely recommend.
Linda and Jeff were very hospitable and made the stay extra special. We look forward to being able to visit again.
Ranch life camping
Our family enjoys taking our camper to locations that aren’t super crowded, which has become increasingly harder to do in these days of COVID with everyone trying to do the same thing. My husband checked out HipCamp and found Linda’s ranch and booked it right away, boy am I glad we chose that route instead of an overcrowded campground!
Linda was very responsive and sent detailed directions and met us at the gate when we arrived. You can tell she has a hotel background because she was so welcoming and hospitable!
We had the fields to ourselves, only to share with 3 of the friendliest horses as well as a pack of cute donkeys. My kids immediately connected with the animals. Linda noticed, and went out of her way to teach them the ways of the ranch and share her love of equines with the kids - and with the parents!
We took every bit of advice on where to go in the area including the beautiful lakes nearby. We drove through town and stopped to cool off at the Animas on our way back to the ranch.
If you go in the summer, wear long sleeves, long pants, closed toed shoes, and have bug spray. It is a true working ranch - you don’t see cowboys wearing chacos and running shorts, am I right?!
It was an incredible experience and a fun weekend had by all. We owe it to Linda for graciously sharing Santa Rita Ranch with our family. We will be back!
We loved our hosts
Definitely don't miss this opportunity to experience hipcamping at it's best . Linda and her husband are the most gracious hosts . I have Fibromyalgia and we would not have got our awning out without her help . The donkeys and horses are very friendly. We had a wonderful time under the stars and enjoyed the meteor shower . I got to bring home my own home made hummingbird feeder (which now stays with our trailer) and a box of mystery crime books that we can't wait to read .
