The Jack Rabbit Hollow is lies in the NE corner of what used to be the 400 acre T-Bone Ranch and was a part of an old cattle drive route between Colorado and New Mexico.  The T-Bone Ranch was divided into 35 acre Tracts this being the 7th. After that the property was owned by the Lutringer family who installed a well, septic and built a small survival shelter near the river.  Morgan and Abe purchased the property from the Lutringers in 2015 and have been farming and running the sanctuary ever since.  They also built a sustainable off-grid farmstead and use permaculture design principles in their creation.  Prior history of the land is unknown to us at this time however we have found arrow heads and fragments on the property as well as the neighbors and public lands indicating that indigenous activities once occurred all along this river system.

    Whimsical, cozy camper
    This was the most wonderful and whimsical place to spend our night in Antonito. We walked with their sweet dog Lizzie down to the river and had a bonfire surrounded by string lights near the camper before bed. It looks rustic, but the camper and even the composting toilet were very clean and tidy. The camper is just the right size for a couple if you are road tripping without camping gear. We had a great time talking with Morgan and Abe and are already excited to come back when the river is flowing again!

    Quiet warmth and comfort
    Had a wonderful evening experience. It was a pleasure to meet my hosts and chat about local flavor as well as their home. Very comfortable accomodations for me and got the added bonus of hanging with their animals. Highly recommend.

    Abe was great and the site was well maintained. We ended up leaving early due to unrelenting 30 mph winds and Abe offered a discount. The property is beautiful and my kids had a wonderful time playing in the river.

    Great space to come with a group!
    The space here is really cute and you can't beat the private river access! Really appreciate the compost toilets too. Abe is super helpful and responsive. This is a great spot to come with a group!
