The Jack Rabbit Hollow Farm Sanctuary is an Organic Ranch that we operate completely off-grid with sustainable earth friendly practices. All our buildings are made from repurposed wood and beetle killed pine. We do not have any trash facilities as all of our waste is either recycled or repurposed. We do not use any chemicals or pesticides whatsoever. Our ranch is located in the stunning alpine desert of the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico. Just 2 miles from the Town of Antonito and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, the campsite is only 5 miles from the CO/NM border with the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument and beautiful San Antonio Mountain in our southern view. To the West there is a clear view of Los Mogotes Peaks in the San Juan mountain range which is the area where Carson National Forrest and the Rio Grande National Forest meet. To the East the view is of the Piñon Hills with the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range behind them provides a layered spectrum of earthy hills, blue mountains and open sky. In the North there is the wide plains and farmland of the San Luis Valley and on a clear day Crestone Peak can be seen nearly 80 miles away. There are only a few neighbors on nearby ranches and so it is very private and undeveloped. You may also see livestock grazing on an around the campsite as this is an agricultural community with reverence for cows, goats, sheep and horses. You may also come into contact with our farm animals who are a part of the animal sanctuary along with the wildlife who inhabit this stretch of land. We have three goats, two sheep, chickens, ducks and our security/rodent management team of 7 cats and Lizzy the dog. Fred the town pig is also roaming these pastures with a group of horses. All our animals are friendly and usually stay close to the homestead which has a large pasture in between the campsite area so you also might come into contact with them especially if you are tent camping. This is a sanctuary for all wildlife and farm animals. We do not allow fishing, hunting or trapping on the Ranch. Some native animals you may see here are: Robins, Ducks, Geese, Rabbits, Prairie Dogs, Beaver, Fish & Crawdads, Porcupine, Badger, Foxes, Coyote, Elk, Deer, Owl, Crow/Raven, Falcon, Geese, Sandhill Crane and chipmunks...just to name a few. It is prohibited to fish, hunt or trap wildlife at this campsite.

Beautiful sunsets and wonderful hosts! They were super welcoming and kind. I loved the camper and it was super cozy and comfy. If you go, please give Mowgli the cat some love for me. She’s the sweetest. Lizzie the dog is also a cutie. There are also goats, sheep and cows roaming free. I am a female solo traveler and it felt safe and secure. It was my first hipcamp experience and I loved it! Thank you, Abe and Morgan!
Outstanding hosts and exceptional animals on the San Antonio River. Would definitely return. Enchanting scene!

Thanks so much for all the kind words! It was really great meeting you and we'd love to have you back again anytime!
Had a wonderful evening experience. It was a pleasure to meet my hosts and chat about local flavor as well as their home. Very comfortable accomodations for me and got the added bonus of hanging with their animals. Highly recommend.

This was the most wonderful and whimsical place to spend our night in Antonito. We walked with their sweet dog Lizzie down to the river and had a bonfire surrounded by string lights near the camper before bed. It looks rustic, but the camper and even the composting toilet were very clean and tidy. The camper is just the right size for a couple if you are road tripping without camping gear. We had a great time talking with Morgan and Abe and are already excited to come back when the river is flowing again!
