This is considered Glamping but in the 1960s!  While only a 20 minute drive to Breckenridge, you are a world away with no hotel shuttles, Starbucks or bright lights.  Wake up to sunrise over mountains instead of the condo next door and enjoy stars galore on the back deck away from town limits.

Camp in an original AFrame near the town of Alma with a roof over your head and sleeping loft with two full size beds and one twin bed. Set in a mix of Aspen and Pine on almost one acre of land at 10,600 ft elevation. Go back in time with this A Frame which is mostly untouched from the 1960s in style, design and decor.

IMPORTANT!: 4WD required in winter although road is plowed to the driveway.

This off grid A Frame cabin was off-grid in 2019 per the reviews and with mixed emotions we report that we now have running water, hot shower and a flush toilet with a propane heat furnace! Enjoy the indoor woodburning stove to keep you warm and the outdoor deck for your morning coffee brewed over the stove, French press or percolator!

For a gym, pool, fitness, standard hot shower or city water toilet facilities, Fairplay and Breckenridge Rec Centers are a short drive away.  Enjoy the South Park Saloon for fresh pizza and beer or Al-Mart General Store which are both a 5 minute drive down the road.

The loft includes 3 beds and the living area includes a full size pullout sofa but at less than 900 sft of living space we suggest limiting to maximum of 4 adults.

Whether you're here for a ski/board vacation, backcountry adventure or summer hiking, all activities are within a 20 minute drive.

Hike out the back door to 14ers Mt Democrat, Bross, Lincoln and Cameron or drive over the pass to Breckenridge, Keystone and ABasin. The South Platte River with top fly fishing is a 5 minute walk. We love this adventure back in time that is better than a tent but nothing close to the sterile luxury condos of the ski resorts! The adjoining unit, the “Placer Pad” is expected to be completely renovated and ready by January 1, 2021 if you need more space for friends or family. Until then construction continues next door but not inside the Snow Shack! Be aware that construction may be occurring on the property M-F from 8-5 and if so, there will be a 25% reduced fee for each day workers are on the property for any inconvenience or noise.

This a-frame is as charming as it is cozy, once you get the propane heat pumping and fireplace going! We stayed here during a snowstorm in December and loved it! Especially enjoyed the indoor swing, the retro decor, and the snowshoes which we used to hike around the area! The little cabin is very well stocked with lots of flashlights, candles, and tons of firewood, kindling, etc. We had no trouble driving right up to the cabin even during the snow storm (we had 4WD), and parked on the street since the driveway is steep. There's a very short easy walk down tot he cabin which is light yellow, and you'll see it through the trees. A friendly neighbor helped us shovel some snow too! Host was super nice and communicative! Thank you!

Cozy on the couch, reading and relaxing. Adorable a-frame in the forest. So cute! Doesn't get much cozier than this! Lighting a fire was a breeze with all of the supplies available: firestarter, matches, kindling, tinder, and lots of wood!

The snow shake was awesome! My boyfriend and I had never done anything quite like this before. It was such a fun camping experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique getaway in the mountains!

This is an adorably quaint property! The swing in the living room is the best part! This is definitely a glamping experience so expect to bring supplies and don't expect 5-star amenities. It's all a part of the experience. Plan to disconnect from electronics and modern day conveniences and reconnect with your loved ones and laughter. They are working on some great upgrades and additions which will make the property even better!
