We are located on the wind swept buffalo grass prairie of eastern Colorado, on a former sheep/dairy farmstead. We purchased the propetery a few years ago & are embracing Regenerative agricltural practices, as we work to rehabilitate the land utilizing eco-friendly techniques such as goats, sheep & poultry. We are a working farmstead raising small farm livestock. The property's history is being preserved on the farm in the form of our efforts to Save the original 2 room homestead soddy farmhouse that sites nestled in the heart of the farmstead. We welcome guests learn more about the history of the area through the eyes of a 4th generation area farmwoman (Anisah), whose great grandparents settled in the area from Kansas. As an experienced genealogist she shares with interested guests genealogy & family history research hobby. Eric (hubby) is an experienced blacksmith & metalsmith/scupltor who has an active art studio/blacksmith shop on the farmstead. We also raise a market garden on the farmstead.

Eastern Colorado homestead
I called at 4 pm ( the confirmation email said check in anytime after 2 pm) The host told me I did not have a reservation and when I said I had the confirmation email she said no one would be there until ‘later’ because her husband was at work. A most unpleasant experience not to mention I had to scramble to find another place to stay that night.

Best ever hosts and spot
It doesn’t get much better than this. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, and everything from the camping spot to the Verizon signal was amazing. We were able to work and enjoy the beautiful scenery including amazing sunsets and pristine mornings. Eggs available and make sure you buy some infused olive oils...they were delicious for cooking! The old sod house and the history attached to it was very interesting as well as an old 50’s vintage camper (which I find very interesting) All in all this is worth a stop X2000! Take advantage of the seamstress services and they’ll patch you up and get you in the road. Thanks guys!!!

Amazing hosts
The hosts are great! Great communication and very nice. They even make and sell homemade bread in the mornings! Remember no bathrooms on the premises. They are in process of repairing the composting toilet. We sheltered in the house of the host during a tornado 🌪 warning. The hosts were very gracious.

Just what we were looking for...
We stayed one night at Eastern Colorado Homestead and it was just what we were looking for. Eric and Anisah were very hospitable. Anisah was very knowledgeable about the land and history of the area. She showed our kids the rabbits, chickens, ducks, sheep and goats. She also showed them how to look for fossils in the rocks. They were even able to bottle feed a baby icelandic sheep. We added a dozen eggs onto our order, which were great for breakfast later in the week. There was one other couple staying there, but they have a lot of space, so we had privacy.

Lovely and welcoming stay
Wonderful stay at Eric and Anisah’s homestead. They were so welcoming, the goats/sheep were fun, and our dogs had a blast with all the new smells. Thanks for the memorable night!
