Welcome to the Magic Meadow cabin on the Off Family Ranch. We are a working cattle ranch that has been in our family for nearly 150 years. The cabin is located in the middle of a lush hay meadow. We are technically located on an island, as the Rio Grande spilts into two branches and we are on the land mass in between. Depending on the time of year, you may see mama cows and their babies just outside your door. Year round you will see a wide variety of birds, including the elegant Sandhill Cranes who visit the ranch in the early spring and late fall. Deer and elk pass through regularly and coyotes will often serenade you at night. We value biodiversity and wildlife habitat and manage the ranch to support a multiplicity of life forms. Nearby you will find great biking and hiking trails, river sports, and fly fishing. Right from your door you can bike to some of the great new single track trails of Del Norte. Just 2.5 miles from town, you can bike or drive in and enjoy a small but excellent selection of eateries, including our local brewery. Sit out by the campfire in the evening for the best stargazing in Colorado!
Inside the cabin is a wonderfully comfortable queen bed. We provide clean sheets for the bed for each visit. You will need to bring your own pillows, bedding, and towels. The cabin is best suited for 2 people, but there is a small loveseat with a twin pullout bed. You may pitch a tent in the yard for additional guests. The shower is located in the sunroom, connected to the cabin, with plenty of hot water even when the room is cold in the winter. The outhouse will have one roll of toilet paper. There is a porch swing in the yard, a fire ring, and a picnic table. Bring additional chairs for your comfort. Though you are in the middle of the meadow, you will have plenty of privacy.
In the summer months, June-August, there can be mosquitos, so come prepared with bug spray or plan to stay covered. We are at 8,000 feet so that makes for warm days and cool nights.
We believe a diversity of plants and animals makes a landscape healthy, resilient, and beautiful. We feel the same way about human beings, and value a landscape where a diversity of people feel welcome and safe.

Peaceful, relaxing retreat
We had a fantastic time staying at Magic Meadows. Keri and David were lovely, quickly responded to questions and their directions were spot on. The cabin is great, rustic, and full of artsy touches that were a lovely surprise. The setting is gorgeous and very peaceful. Our family desperately needed a change of scenery and this was perfect. The cows were up in the mountains when we visited but a deer and her tiny fawn passed by one morning and we had fun trying to guess how many different bird calls we could hear as we ate our breakfast outside. Our kids had a great time running around the hay fields, climbing the fantastic old tree on the grounds, and sitting around a campfire each night. We were only there for a couple of days but we returned home feeling as relaxed as if we had been gone a week.
The stay was beautiful, and very quiet and secluded. Privacy is in full effect. They have lovely views of the beautiful double rainbow. Great grass feed steaks directly from the owners. They were a lovely family, very welcoming, easy to talk to, and gave some lovely suggestions as to where to visit. We ended up going to Pagosa Springs and tubing with a friend. It’s a very relaxed stay. Go fishing, grill some great steaks, enjoy the meadow and your dogs will love it upon approval from the owners! Your kids will have an absolute blast and won’t wanna ever leave! Small town comes with minimal options in the area to shop and eat. Market down the road provided everything we needed that we didn’t bring. Don’t forget your pillows and blankets! You’ll regret it! We’ll be back again for sure!
Perfect cure for covid! no tv!
A fantastic escape and refresh! For a “roughing it” with some close to town amenities feel, this cabin is perfect! Cows, elk bugling in the distance, Rio Grande river fishing yards away!!!, a farm implement museum lol, all the mesquite wood you can gather and burn, just to name a few of the perks! Keri and David will attend to whatever you need.... even have fresh cut steaks for sale from their cattle. Will definitely be back!
Del norte paradise delivered!
Wow! Truly an amazing vacation! This delightful little cabin was perfect for 2 adults and 1 dog. The cabin is well stocked with everything one could need. All you need to bring is clothes and food and pillows! This cabin is much better than a motel room or tent camping. A far better value than a motel because there is a full kitchen. Still able to stargaze and have a fire like tent camping but the cabin has a shower.
