The vibe at Disc Golf Oasis w/ 360 Degree Views
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
If I played disc golf, I do believe I’d be in hog’s heaven or in this case “Bear Mountain.” Nested in 40 acres of breathtaking beauty is a large Disc Golf Oasis. I lost track on how big the course was. I do remember seeing hole #22 on the way back to my campsite. Unfortunately for me, I don’t play disc golf but that shouldn’t stop anyone from coming to Bear Mountain. I had just as much fun hiking the entire course. You’ll find stunning views of the distant peaks and mature pine and aspens all over Bear Mountain. You’ll come across hiding “treasures” along the way, such as these great sitting areas, which highlight the natural surroundings. There are great spots all over the mountain to unwind and take the whole scene in. My favorite was the medal bench high above at the tee box for hole #10.
Dan, the host was very hospitable and friendly. He met me as I drove up and told me to camp anywhere on Bear Mountain, suggested some nice areas around depending on what I was looking for. Since I needed a nice level area for my roof top tent, I choose an established site with a fire ring next to a rustic weathered large log table. The views were amazing, and it had a nice sitting area surrounded by a rocky outcropping just steps away. You'd find me down there most of the time; sitting on an old wooden Adirondack chair staring off in the distance.
If you wanted total seclusion, my site might not be the ideal location. The main house sits high on the property and overlooks the main camping area. There is also a neighbor nearby. Plus, it’s an active disc golf course, but the host does make sure the players are aware of the campers. There are many other places on the property, if you want to walk in with a tent or lots of great trees for a hammock. I didn’t mind talking with the two groups that came through during my stay at Bear Mountain.
Overall, a great experience with my stay at this hip camp. Very relaxing and stress free. I would recommend anyone that enjoys breathtaking views, likes to explore/hike or definitely/ plays disc golf to head to Bear Mountain. Next time, I need to bring a disc or two!
This is a great site even if you don't play disc golf. btw if you do play you pretty much have to camp here. This is a huge property. Dan has a great variety of spots to set up a tent. Lost Creek Wilderness is 10 minutes away.
I camped for three nights on Dan’s land, and it was a wonderful experience. Dan welcomed us on arrival and was very friendly, offering us tips about the area and encouraging us to explore his beautiful secluded property and disc golf course. He even gave us a jump start after I ran my car battery dry, and refused a tip for doing so. The campsite was far from other sites and very quiet. The porta poddy was clean and convenient. I can’t wait to visit again next time I am in the area.
It was beautiful, can't believe how lucky we were to have such a stunning, private place with such awesome hosts on a three day weekend. Everything was ideal, and all under an hour from Denver. We'll be back
Communication was great. Dan has an incredible property. We are also disc golfers and had a blast playing the 22 hole course. We will definitely return in the future.
Dan has some beautiful land, with a great selection of camp sites. We stayed for three days at a site that was close to some disc golf holes, and to the porta potty. This was convenient, but we could have chosen a more secluded site if we wanted. Dan was super friendly and helpful. I would happily stay here again!
