We are a working agricultural property. You will be required to help with the livestock as a way to meet County Code. All of our guests are livestock handlers. 🤠 As such, a couple hours of helping goes a long way to move out permaculture farm forward. That now includes goats, chickens, and bees. Livestock handlers would be asked to do some type of activity like clearing the ditch access trail, fixing the fence, collecting eggs from the chickens or maybe taking the goats for a hike. We have greenhouses to put up and vegetables to plant. As a bonus, we essentially have private access to the National Forest that surrounds us. So if the trailhead is closed, we are not. We have been clearing the trail through the National Forest that connects our ranch by the ditch road to the rest of the trail network. It still need a bit of work. We do have a slide in camper available to rent on our other listing. So if you don't have an RV, you can test drive the idea here. There will be plenty of time to sit by the fire or hike a trail to the Blue River for fishing. We are surrounded by 240 square miles of wilderness within hiking distance.

Our campground host, Jon, was very informative about the area, local history, flowers, fauna, and the wildlife. The mountain views are spectacular and the nighttime stars filled every inch of the sky! Definitely looking forward to many return trips to this location!

We loved the secluded tent site next to the pond and gurgling brook. We set up our food prep table on the other side of the stream and had shade both morning and evening. The view from the fire pit of the surrounding mountains was spectacular! Jon pointed the way to a lovely stroll from his property and also gave us a great recommendation to hike around Cataract Lake, which is stunning. We also enjoyed taking little jaunts around Jon's pond in the canoe and kayaks. We were entertained by the goats and Jon was attentive to the billy goat's whereabouts. It helped that we brought our own little potty set-up. It is a working ranch so you'll have to wend you way past a fair bit of equipment when you arrive, but none of that is visible from the campsite. Jon was a gracious host and we recommend Camphand Ranch for anyone looking for a unique experience.

John was a spectacular host from start to finish and we can't recommend booking him enough.

We booked last minute and surprised him as he was working on building a waterfall, but dropped everything to make sure we were accommodated. With ample sites to choose from, we picked a secluded area near the beach while our friends went with a patch near the fire. He even took time to explain to us where the winds would be coming from in the evening before we set up camp.

There were a number of kayaks and canoes to choose from to take out on the small pond which made for an afternoon's worth of entertainment. His goats are the best (just make sure you're not leaving food out!) and made it feel like a real farm experience. He even brought us down some fresh sweet corn from the local market. Can't wait to head back!

Samantha was a great guest. She and her friends were great fun around the campfire. Left a clean camp.
