Camping with big brother watching
The camp host came by 4-5 times a day. pretty annoying. asking us what we're having for dinner, etc. Pretty sure his drone was cruising around our tents at night and in the morning. camping with big brother...
Wonderful primitive camping
We loved this place! It IS primitive camping so make sure you are prepared for that. The road is a bit of a challenge but we drove it just fine in our Nissan Frontier. The spot was gorgeous and we loved getting to have our doggy off leash and enjoy the nature freely! Our kitty loved climbing the trees too! And the humans were very happy with the the view and fire pit.
Just what we were searching for...
We had a really a great experience camping here. The road to the site was a bit rugged but completely worth it. It was so quiet at night I thought I was going crazy, (in the best way). Host was helpful, funny, charming and easy to interact with but respected your privacy. Sites are spread out well enough to give you the feeling of being completely alone. We were free to do as we please and explore where we wanted. Campsite was clean and free of litter. If you want a quiet escape from the messed up world.... check this place out. We’ll definitely be back again.
Robert was a pleasure to work during the reservation process. The pictures and description did not seem entirely accurate to us. It is basically a rough ATV Trail with some fire rings. Even though our 19 foot sprinter van had 4x4 we had a devil of a time getting up past the first camping area. Also finding a level, less rocky area might be tough if you are in a tent. I would not recommend this place for a larger RV or if you are pulling anything really. Also there are lots of shorter pine trees making for a tight fit on the sides and above the road into the spots.
Would camp again!
Great spot! Our specific spot could have been hard to find, but thanks to the host’s treasure map, we made it just fine! The views were beautiful and there was a nice amount of shade. There’s a reservoir close by, and a short drive to the Great Sand Dunes! Bring closed toed shoes for yourself and your furry friends (lol, but seriously), there are cacti around, which we totally expected being a desert location.
We would definitely camp here again!
