The Chapel is a unique covered, enclosed site with an adjacent open green space. It has amazing views, a picnic table and is centrally located in camp.
Camp Kush is located in the Great Sage Plain at the edge of the Colorado Plateau in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region, all only 5 miles southeast of Cortez.
We have private couple’s or family cabins, shared hostel-style cabins with bunk beds, tent and vehicle sites, a community kitchen, a covered event space, vault toilets and hot showers.
Camp Kush is in an arid desert climate. Water is delivered by truck and stored in cisterns for use in camp. Because of this we ask that you bring your own bedding and linens, your own drinking water & limit water use in camp. We won't leave you without though! Please ask for whatever you need- we've got you covered.
We are a cannabis friendly destination & are inclusive! Cool folks of any ethnic background, national origin or religion as well as hippies, freaks and queers are all welcome here!
We're happy to give you the local's only hook-up to find hikes, ruins, swimming holes, lakes/rivers, hot springs, tacos, coffee, cannabis, a spot to rent kayaks, bikes- you name it! Just ask.
There are so many things to do/see nearby: Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World. Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent an SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. There are several museums and cultural centers in the area as well.
Durango and Telluride are each about hour away, and Moab is about 2.5 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks.
The best/nearest airport is in Durango, and the nearest large international airport is in Albuquerque.

Camping in the time of covid Jen made us feel safe and welcome while applying social distancing. A dream site for dog parents because the chapel is in closed by a wooden gate. The kitchen facility is well thought out and so much more than you would expect from a campsite. The directions to get there are perfect, If you feel like you’ve gone to far keep going and they’re right! The remote location has a huge payoff though the stars are out of this world. The observation deck is a vacation in itself I cannot recommend this site enough.
Perfect place for me peace and quite, good people respectful and courteous. I even extended my stay and i will be back. Thanks Jen
Super flexible with our group and so helpful!! The campsite was beautiful- ESPECIALLY the hot shower :)

Beautiful area, clean bathrooms, my site was out of the wind which was great!
The most amazing hosts. Incredible views in every direction. Running water in the bathrooms/and the shower was actually amazing. My dog loved running around in the chapel and having her own space. Hosts are incredibly fast with responses. I had some unexpected wildlife encounters and I texted the host and they were there in a flash to help me out. Looking back, I feel a little silly about contacting a campsite host about encountering wildlife while camping, but they went above and beyond to make me feel safe. 100% recommend.
Really loved it here Jen was extremely welcoming! The chapel is awesome for the pup she ran around like a crazy person and it was nice to see her just get to run while camping.
The amenities at the camp are great & the views awesome. One of the best Hipcamp sites I've experienced!
