Camp Kush is located in the Great Sage Plain at the edge of the Colorado Plateau in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region, all only 5 miles southeast of Cortez.
We have private couple’s or family cabins, shared hostel-style cabins with bunk beds, tent and vehicle sites, a community kitchen, a covered event space, vault toilets and hot showers.
We are a cannabis friendly destination. We are inclusive here- cool folks of any ethnic background, national origin or religion as well as hippies, freaks and queers are all welcome here!
We're happy to give you the local's only hook-up to find hikes, ruins, swimming holes, lakes/rivers, hot springs, tacos, coffee, cannabis, a spot to rent kayaks, bikes- you name it! Just ask.
Camp Kush is in an arid desert climate. Water is delivered by truck and stored in cisterns for use in camp. Because of this we ask that you bring your own your own drinking water & limit water use.
There are so many things to do/see nearby: Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World. Or raft down the Dolores river, rent an SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. There are several museums and cultural centers in the area as well.
Durango and Telluride are each about hour away, and Moab is about 2 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks.
The best/nearest airport is in Durango, and the nearest large international airport is in Albuquerque.

This place is heaven on earth... I arrived just after dark so had the benefit of waking up and being amazed. There are sunflowers growing wild across the area and mountains all around. Jen & Amy were prompt in their communication at booking and check-in, and were really friendly on arrival.
This is an eco-friendly place with recycling containers for glass, plastic, paper and cans, solar lights to mark the way to other buildings, and natural shower gels/handwash provided. The design is really cool, with a combination of corrugated metal, chipboard and timber to make the buildings.
The camp is rustic in feel yet has everything you need. There's a fully stocked kitchen (stove top, microwave, coffee maker, fridge/freezer) with speakers for your music, and outside there's a bbq and shaded picnic benches. There's potable water for drinking provided.
There's a separate outhouse for boys and girls with long drop toilets and a sink, and a separate shower block. The shower was lukewarm (but with great pressure) first thing in the morning but one of they other guests said it's hotter later on. Plenty of hooks to hang your clothes/towel on and benches to put your toiletries on.
I stayed in the female dorm room, which was huge, auth a sleeping bag, pillow and towel provided. The bunk beds were comfortable and the fan worked well.

Camp Kush is very thoughtfully designed and well maintained! Jen and Burt were kind and helpful hosts, and very responsive. The kitchen and shared picnic areas were a great bonus. Loved it!
This place is better than I expected! The kitchen is amazing- coffee maker, ice machine (with a small $donation), blender, hot plates & pots/pans for cooking, kitchen tools & spices, etc. Very stocked & a great break from having NO kitchen while camping! The screened pavilion with lots of picnic tables offers shade & coolness from the hot sun. The SUNSETS ARE AMAZING & there’s an observation deck with ladder steps you can climb to get perfect pictures! The bathrooms are adorable & very clean- so are the showers. This used to be a literal church camp so it’s set up like one. The hosts are so kind & fun. You can smoke cannabis anywhere. Super fun & respectful environment. I extended my stay from one night to a whole week : )
Had such an amazing time! Loved the vibe of the place and the stay was quite comfortable! So coming back to camp here again! Highly recommend to everyone wanting a cool experience and getting to meet some cool peeps!
Camp Kush was an awesome stay!! If you love meeting new and interesting people then this is definitely the place for you. Not to mention an incredible view of the milky way :)
Loved this Camp!! The amenities were most excellent (huge bonus with full kitchen access), showers hot and hosts welcoming. We enjoyed meeting the fellow campers, and the stay overall. I look forward to returning with more campers!
