Camp Coyote was an awesome experience! Michelle is an amazing host and was very helpful. There is a fire ring and porta potty on site. Michelle is very open to letting you have free roam of her land. There is so much area to explore and has amazing views! It was about 25 minutes from Great Sand Dunes and a really wonderful camping spot. Check it out!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Camp Coyote! Be prepared to take a trek out into the back roads in order to find the Camp, but totally worth it once you arrive! The site was well kept and the property is amazing! We talked with the host and he was super friendly. It sounds like Camp Coyote will continue to develop and more campers stay. Lots to explore in the area and Blanca Peak is a short hike. Awesome experience!

Great location, amazing views of Blanca Peak, sites are at the base of a hillside covered in a maze of rocks and boulders that were great for exploring, and we had the whole area to ourselves. Michelle was a great host; the directions were a little tough at first, but she was available and helped us get settled in. We were in pop-up campers, and had limited options for where to set up, but were able to find good level spots for three campers. Sand Dunes NP was an easy 30-minute drive. The only cautionary note is that there is plenty of cactus around, so be cautious if taking younger kids or pets who don't know better.

This would be a great site for tents but it's a bit difficult for pop-up campers as there are not very many level spots. The privacy is unbeatable and the sunset against the mountains is beautiful. There are many many cactus everywhere and of the 5 children who camped here, 3 of them fell into cactus and spent quite some time pulling out tiny and large prickly pear spines from hands and legs. I wouldn't recommend this spot for families but think it has a lot to offer otherwise.

Beautiful spot with amazing views! A little difficult to find at first. Directions listed didn’t explain too much and the coordinates were a little off. The campsites were great but had a lot of surrounding cacti that was a bit troublesome for our dog — just something to note if camping with your pup! Overall, loved the views and the horses that visited the site! Will definitely be back.

Beautiful views, wild horses and Colorado pronghorn roam nearby, bring the horses apples or carrots and they will love you.

Camp Coyote is a great base camp for visiting the sand dunes. It is nestled in the foothills below Blanca Peak overlooking the San Luis Valley, which makes for some stunning views. We had our kids with us, so having the property to explore was a bonus. The only issue was directions, but Michele was reachable to assist. She is a wonderful person for sharing her property for others to enjoy. Bottom line, if you like dispersed camping with the bonus of having a porta potty, then this is the place for you.
