Welcome to "A Life Outdoors!"  Our cute little family camper trailer can shelter you at a moments notice.  It is freshly restored, clean, comfortable, and parked on the bank of the la Plata River.  We ask that all pets be kept outside of the camper to maintain cleanliness.  Comprised of a king size bed, a 3 burner stove, and a closet, sink and an ice box.  It encompasses a relaxing simplicity. All the windows are screened in and operable with bamboo shades that can be raised for window view.

The camper camp sight is on its own corner of the property adjacent to the river, about 50 yards from the main house.  A nearby shed houses a composting outhouse where toilet paper is provided for. We provide clean sheets for each booking to protect the bedding.  All the blanket layers and sleeping bags are typically up to the camper.  Though we can help with more layers in an emergency.  Living at 8,000 feet above sea level on the river exposes us to some drastic temperature changes between night and day. There are many large cottonwoods nearby and the front door opens to the river.  The camp sight has its own fire pit enclosed for safety and all the small brush and kindling you need to hone your fire starting skills.

You are welcome to chill in the solitude of birdsong and flowing water, come visit with us if we are around, or venture out.  It's likely that you will see the kids around playing from time to time, and they especially like it when campers bring other kids along.  We are a permaculture farm, wildlife preserve, and art production facility and we've got a wealth of ideas for to suit most any of life's most enduring interests.  We are also only 15 minutes from the Durango City limits, and even nearer to a myriad of outdoor activities and adventures.  Host(s) can help with rides, suggestions, food, directions, and even tours.

Ryan and his family are very sweet and have a lovely property right by the river! It was great to talk with Ryan our son got to play with his very cool son. We knew it would be too cold for us to camp with our children in May in Durango, and we were attending a conference, so we knew we needed to have quick access to a way to cook inside. This camper was perfect! It allowed us to at least feel a little bit more at home, rather than cold and wet. Just a few notes, the site is right outside Durango which was very convenient, but it is a higher elevation so can be much colder seasonally, so be sure to bring extra warm clothing. Also, the river was running quite fast when we went, just a caution to those with kids and dogs, to be more aware, but we only went down there with the kids and felt quite safe. We would definitely camp there again!

We really enjoyed having this beautiful family stay on our land. Anyone who does is very fortunate. Meeting people like this and getting a chance to exchange with them is reason enough to do the work required of a hip camp host and continue to improve upon it.
