This is one of our most exciting places, especially in the springtime! Talk about tree frog mating chorus! Situated on the top of an old dam, one side is a seasonal pond, and the other is a proper wetland, with figs, wild grapes, blackberries, and a spring. There is ample poison oak beyond the site, too, and a non-trivial drop-off from the dam wall. Guests are expected to maintain a cautious and thoughtful attitude when camping here.
A square mile of watershed drains through this long-ago built feature, and has created a veritable jungle downstream. This platform is in a perfect location to enjoy the natural glory that our oak woodland brings to the table. Piles of mining tailings, residual from the gold rush, are visible across the pond, and also comprise another historic dam. Birders love this spot, as do late sleepers, since the site is one of the latest to get sun in the morning.
This site, though just a couple minute walk from the parking and living area, feels far more secluded and remote than anywhere else. From the back of the sleeping platform, competent woodland navigators can wind up a barely defined trail to a series of pristine meadows on the other side of the drainage. The outhouse is a less than 5 minute walk away.
During the spring, campers at Dam Camp will be able to enjoy a small fire of their own.

The vibe at Dam Camp
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This working farm was a great little find for being just outside of Yosemite. Matt and his team were all very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. For those of you who prefer to have a bathroom and shower on site, they have both. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for an option to stay near the Yosemite Valley.
We really enjoyed our stay. We slept underneath the stars, which were so bright and beautiful. The farm has a lot to see and learn about with the garden, the animals and lots of people to meet/ talk to. Would definitely recommend staying here for anyone in the area.
This was an amazing stay at Wondernut farm! The dam camp was so perfect for our family of 5. Matt and Carrie are the best hosts we could have asked for. We cooked together, had amazing long conversations, the kids fell in love with the animals, we exored Yosemite, and swam in epic swimming holes. We fell in love with Wondernut!!!
