The vibe at Wild Tender Ranch Sweeping Views
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This place is fantastic. Driving by the grazing horses on your way in sets the stage for this serene, beautiful land share. Montrese was there to greet us and walk us through the property. The wind screened fire pit area was stocked with dry wood, the kitchen was well supplied, and the RV was clean and comfortable. It got VERY windy at night so it was hard to light a fire, but we made do and had a wonderful time.
I brought my mom and aunt here for a ladies weekend of filled with campfires, stars and laughs, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect spot for exactly that. Every moment of this trip from driving down the beautiful coastal hwy 101 to bumping along the dirt road up to WildTender to being greeted by the radiant and full-hearted Montrese to being awoken with seven majestic horses grazing in our camp was a memory and unique moment in and of itself.
It was my mom's first time camping, so the RV at this camp was a perfect way for her to try sleeping outdoors and in nature while not having to worry about pitching a tent, staking a rainfly or sleeping on the ground. I don't know if it was a combination of the misty starry sky at night, the laughs we shared while channeling our girl scout days and trying to start a campfire or the delicious camp meal we cooked in the kitchenette, but she's now hooked and I couldn't be happier.
I plan to return here again (and I recommend you go here) for some peace and quiet, stunning ocean views and to soak in the positive energy seeping from every pore in the land.
Peaceful and healing. I couldn't ask for more from any stay as this was more than I expected on all levels. There was an abundance of space to roam, amazing views everywhere you looked, and more amenities than I was expecting. The RV, kitchenette, and fire pit made the stay feel luxurious and very easy. This is a perfect place to spend some quiet time outdoors where the only sounds are the crackling fire, frogs, and ocean. We didn't hear or see any other people, but were pleasantly surprised to have a couple dogs and several horses checking in on us. I would definitely return to this site.
I am a bit reluctant to write this review because demand for this exceptional site will go through the roof; but in the interest of paying it forward, GO HERE! Montrese and Anders' secluded retreat is unparalleled. The serenity of the ocean views sets the tone for a perfect stay, and then the amenities make the whole experience extra comfortable. From the wind protector, fire wood, and kitchenette, to the cozy refuge of the RV with running water, you cannot beat WildTender Ranch. Do yourself a favor and spend a few nights supporting this incredible place.
WildTender Ranch is unbelievable. From the gorgeous drive down Highway 1 to the gently meandering paths through pastures of wild horses, lakes, rolling grassy hills and finally to your coastal perch above the Pacific Ocean - the entire experience felt like a dream. We went on one of the most stormy weekends of the year and even though we were sopped out in rain and fog the entire time, it was still magical, which tells you just how amazing this spot is. The entire weekend we felt at peace - the healing energy of this place is tangible. The RV was clean and cozy. We enjoyed playing games, reading and relaxing in the space. We slept incredibly well in the comfortable bed, and we had all the amenities we needed and appreciated the nice touches, like candles, extra lighting, coffee/tea, etc. We also loved using the kitchen which was also stocked with supplies and the basics (salt, pepper, oil, etc). The only challenge we encountered was running out of water on the RV, the lack of hot water for the shower and sink and feeling quite cold, but again, we were there on a uniquely stormy weekend and likely wouldn't have been bothered by the above in better conditions. Otherwise, it was a perfect weekend at a very special spot we felt lucky to enjoy. We can't wait to come back with better weather!
This is an amazing site! The little kitchenette and RV basically make it so you don't have to bring anything other than food to camp (should you want to). We ended up pitching a tent anyway, and there's plenty of room to do so. The wind break circle was really nice too, as it does tend to get breezy late in the afternoon.
In the mornings, you can peek out your tent and see the rescued horses grazing behind the RV. There's a sturdy swing set next to the site that is fun too.
Portapotty is very clean as far as portapotties go, probably because it appears to be serviced every week.
Be kind -- driver slowly in to avoid dusting the neighbors, and respect the land.
What a wonderful place to take your children and their friends!. The RV is a perfect kid hideaway and there is ample room to stake a tent nearby so the grownups get some alone time. The cooking cottage was really helpful and has all the plates, cups, bowls etc. you would need. Just bring a frying pan. The best part, though, was meeting Montrese and her animal family. I highly recommend doing the "animal interaction" she facilitates-- the kids loved meeting the gentle horses and learning how to speak to them. There are also many other adorable rescued critters you will hug and scritch. This campsite is worth every dime and goes to a great cause, as well. Go here!
If you need a setting to make magic happen, Montrese has created it, and graciously made it available to you at an unbelievably low price. This place is not a camp ground, it's a ceremonial site. Whatever the ceremony is that you need in your life, you can create it in this breath-taking setting. I began a deep healing process there, listening to the ocean and 100 million tiny amber bells. Just as I was ready to leave, three horses came by to bid me safe journey. I'll always remember my time there with gratitude.
We stayed at the larger site, Sweeping Views and had a great time. This site is large, beautiful and peaceful. The RV is super cute and cozy, the windbreak with firepit very welcome for the chilly nights and the kitchen was so convenient. My kids loved everything about this place, swings, open area to play, cozy bed to read in, but they especially loved the chance to meet the animals and learn about how to approach these gentle creatures. Monterese is a warm, special person and if you are lucky enough to book time with her for an animal encounter, do it!
Staying in the RV on Wild Tender Ranch is a dream. It's super cozy, full of intriguing books, and has one of the comfiest camp beds I've ever slept on. We had fun cooking in the well-stocked kitchen and eating by the fire behind the windbreak. Then, when the wind kicked up, we scurried into the RV and settled in for the night. Raindrops on the roof woke us in the morning, but we were warm and dry. Horses had been by in the night, and having them roam free on the property gives Wild Tender Ranch a truly unique quality. Can't wait to return!
My husband and I stayed at Wild Tender Ranch, and it was one of the most meaningful, memorable experiences we've ever had. The property is beautiful with free roaming horses, the Pacific Ocean, unbelievable sunsets, and the Pigeon Point Lighthouse as your view. The RV was adorable, clean, well stocked with candles, coffee, even little chocolates on our pillows! I think the absolute best part of our stay was the animal interaction. Montrese is incredibly thoughtful, kind and insightful (she brought me berries for my birthday!) She first grounded us in a short meditation, and then we were calmly and quietly led through the paddock. Next, we met with the animals we felt most connected with. As we interacted with the horses, two adorable potbelly pigs and a llama, Montrese asked us questions that not only taught us about the animals, but led us to our own personal breakthroughs. I was so moved and emotional, feeling so connected to the animals. Montrese and the animals of Wild Tender taught us so much. She provided incredible insight, and it was as if she'd known us for years. It truly is a place of healing, and it changed my life. I'm forever grateful.
What an awesome site - fantastic experience, would recommend! We came after heavy rains, so the ground was muddy - but goodness it was well worth the experience. Kitchenette had everything you needed along with plenty of firewood and a nice windbreak - glamping at it's finest!
Hugely successful camping trip! A few friends and I headed out here for a birthday camping trip and even with inclimate weather, we were still able to make a fantastic night of it. The fire ring is perfect to keep some of the wind out and still enjoy the stunning view. Having the cook shed/kitchen made meal prep and cooking a breeze and when the rain started really coming down, we were all able to squeeze into the RV for a few games of cards. The weather broke in the morning and we were able to watch the clouds shift over the ocean for a few hours. An all around amazing experience and well worth the trip.
We loved this place. This is one of those places for which I almost hate to leave a good review for fear it will become too popular and won't be available the next time we want to stay. We truly enjoyed this refuge from the typical crowded-in, noisy camp environment. The views are incredible, both toward the ocean and back toward the hills and horses. Montrese is a great host that truly appreciates the beauty and peace here. The RV was cozy and comfortable, the fire pit area was a great place to hang out. It's definitely a windy, cool environment out there, but I like that kind of thing.
Montrese welcomed us to her "portal to the 1980s" with an offering of s'mores fixings tucked away in the kitchenette. The glass-enclosed fire pit was a dreamy space to eat all our meals, watching the sun rise and set each day. Since we spent a week with Wild Tender Ranch as our home base for day hikes, Montrese offered her own personal shower house for my husband and I to use. After four days of sweating, that hot shower might've been the best part of the week! As a first vacation for my husband and I with our eleven-week-old baby, we felt right at home in the space between camping and traveling RV magic. (And we're dead set on buying a camper van now!) Many thanks to Montrese and her daughter for a lovely week and those delicious fresh eggs. 👌🏻
Something different. Quiet, secluded, and very peaceful. Beautiful ocean views and sunsets. The little kitchen shack is well stocked with everything you would need. The RV is super cool and my kids loved sleeping in the upper bunk. We played cards, dominos, and made origami animals which is all stocked there. Lots of outside space for my kids. We played football, baseball, and flew a kite. Dress warm as it can get windy at times. Bring insect repellent to fight the bugs. Great family vacation for people that love the outdoors.
My Husband, son, and I have just returned from our first trip to wild tender ranch and we absolutely fell in love with the camping site, the sanctuary, and the woman behind it all, Montrese. The place has a peacefulness that permeates into everyone and everything. This was our first camping trip since having our son and he also fell in love with the place; he especially enjoyed the sleeping arrangements which allowed him to sleep on the top bunk (one of the two beds in the RV). The other bed in the RV is at the opposite end of the RV and my 6'2" husband slept comfortably there both nights. The camping site also includes an enclosed fire pit and a separate kitchenette with everything you need to make a real meal (stove, oven, pots, plates, etc..). We decided to take part in the animal interaction, which must be set up with Montrese beforehand. We highly recommend taking part in this activity as it resulted in not only a wonderful experience with different animals, but also a profound sense of healing and peacefulness felt by all three of us (even our 6 year old son benefitted from it). On top of all of this the location is close to many public beaches and a couple small quaint towns (Pescadero, Davenport). Our family spent time at Gazos State Beach followed by dinner in Pescadero. Our experience at wild tender ranch is one that will stay with us forever. A unique and much needed change from our usual Silicon Valley life. We look forward to our next visit to wild tender ranch; we feel extremely grateful to have found this place.
