We stayed at the Light House campsite for New Years Eve and could not have picked a more magical spot to ring in the new year. Montrese went above and beyond to accommodate our group, and provided helpful amenities like water, firewood, and even chocolate! The site itself is incredible, with ocean views and (and sounds!). The tipi was a savior during the cold and windy night, and there was plenty of space to pitch our two additional tents.

The Light House View at WildTender is nothing short of magical. With a teepee, laid with soft wood chips, overlooking the Pacific, and a wood burning stove to cozy up to at night, this humble little site let us experience this part of the coast like we never have before. Our host Montrese was so warm and welcoming! She provided us with fat wood for our fire, water, and really anything else we needed. The sunset here was unreal! And even though it's not far from the city, at night the sky was glittering with stars. It was really something else to sip tea by the roaring fire and watch the moon dip into the water. During the day, we explored the property, which is also occupied by lots of beautiful, friendly horses. It really was incredible. I can't wait to visit again!

I LIKED camping at Wild Tender's eerily beautiful lighthouse "view" spot, but I didn't love it. None of this is Montrese's fault, or really the fault of the space, but, just know what you're getting yourself into before you go. Montrese was very helpful, and provided her phone number to text her if we had any questions (and props for her flexibility too, as I had to change the date on her before we actually went). The tipi is pretty cool and has little lights inside, and there's a picnic table and water provided, and a tarp and a couple of little chairs for inside the tipi. But, we stayed there in the notoriously foggy and miserable California coastal "summer," and the space is not ideal for that. While the dense fog that covered the area the whole time we were there IS very pretty and contributes to a nice feeling of isolation, it also made for a pretty cold and wet weekend. The fog was so thick that it blanketed everything with a cold, dripping layer of dew; not exactly raining, but close to it. As noted above, the tipi is not water-tight, and the fog/dew/drips just comes right in all the cracks, so by morning both our sleeping bags were pretty wet (the tipi "door" flap also doesn't cover the whole door-space, so there's like a 6 inch gap). Because of fire danger (and when we were there, there actually was a large fire burning south of Monterey), we couldn't have a campfire to warm us. Montrese texted me to offer the fire pit for the other space at Wild Tender for the first night, because nobody was staying in it, but I didn't get the text until we went into town the next day, because there is zero cell service at the spot (I consider this a positive, actually). Obviously, with the fog there is no "view" either; perhaps you can actually see the lighthouse from there, but we did not. We did see a ton of quail, and heard deer and raccoons by the tipi, and were visited by two very friendly dogs. So, pluses: feels pleasantly isolated; tipi is cool; fun, harmless wildlife. Minuses: very cold and wet; no view; no fire. I would consider coming back if I knew the weather were going to cooperate.

WildTender is a magical place. As soon as you enter the first gate, you are met by friendly horses and expansive views. The positive energy of the land is infectious! It's also a great spot for larger groups as there is tons of flat areas to camp and a really cool area built specifically to protect you from the wind. Your camp hosts, Montrese and Anders are some of the best people you'll meet! I can't wait to get back to WildTender....it truly should not be missed :)

We stayed at the more private/smaller of the two sites and had a lovely time. The view is just amazing, and it's super private. If the weather cooperates, there are tons of stars and ocean to take in. The owner was easy to communicate with and her dogs were the best! The ground was a little soggy due to a spring leak, but sounds like they're working on that. There is another camp near by that's more for big groups, and the group that was there was nice enough to invite us over for a drink :) All in all, it was a great experience.

This camp is really amazing- it is very private and has spectacular views of the ocean. The patio and fire pit made for an awesome night and we really enjoyed hanging out by the fire and cooking. There is a lot nearby including Highway 1 brewery, and tons of beautiful beaches.

Montrese is a great host and this is such a lovely setting - I wish the sky had been more clear the night we were there because I'm sure there is some great star gazing that can happen there! Make sure to bring lots of layers as it can get chilly and windy. Also might be helpful to bring extra folding chairs to hang out around the chiminea - only one chair when we went. Really nice spot for a weekend overnight retreat. As an equestrian, I of course also liked getting to camp with the horses. Probably my favorite part though was that one of the ranch dogs (who we nicknamed "Biggie") coming down to hang out with us (and our dog) in the morning - she was super sweet and a nice morning hangout buddy.

The ranch is an absolute dream, from the drive up seeing the horses roaming freely, to the expansive ocean views from the campsite. Our time at the site was peaceful and relaxing, just what we were looking for. I highly suggest enjoying both the sunset and sunrise if you can. Montrese was very accommodating and made sure the site was ready even though we were a little early. She gave us awesome recommendations for our stay and we were so thankful we listened to her! This is one of our new favorites and we will definitely be coming back.

I cannot say enough good things about WildTender Ranch! We had a great time with our own (private) campsite! Montrese, the host greeted us on arrival to show us our campsite. The endless view was amazing. We greatly appreciated the port-a-potty and available water for dishes. etc. Since we were the only campers that night, we were able to walk around the camp -- the other campsite was amazing as well! I would highly recommend this campsite for a weekend getaway!
