CHECK OUT is 9:AM please. Sorry, NO DAY TIME USAGE, JUST AN OVERNIGHT CAMP*** (we have other day usage sites) FOR SAKE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING PLZ USE DESIGNATED PORTA POTTY
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!!! We love our guests, without you we could not run the Sanctuary! ***This is a Quiet, safe, beautiful and basic camp site for two people and one car (bring all you need) and place to park while on a coastal adventure.
We provide long and detailed directions that will make perfect sense when you are traveling the nondescript country roads (be sure to have a saved copy that doesn't require connection) - to get you smoothly through horse fields with gates and safety considerations for all.
(If you are looking for more than a simple overnight, check out our Oceanview Couple's Corner or our Private Ocean Dome and Retreat for Individuals and Groups)
Beautiful pristine and open fields all around, surrounded by free roaming horses. Unobstructed OCEAN/Mountan views in every direction includes light house (#1 only), open fields, horses and stars!
Offers picnic table, Porta potty, peace. BASIC CAMP SPOT, BYO everything.
FOR SAFETY and privacy Plz No exploring the ranch. At the end of driveway there are Pristine State beaches are awesome for a morning walk. No dogs preferred (we have free roaming dogs AND horses) - but if you have to bring your pup, give us a heads up, and plz keep them on leash - plz clean up after them as well. No trace behind camping!
THIS CAMP is purely a place to park sleep and cruise, it’s not a camp ground for day use, e.g. NO FIRES, cooktop ok.
Please check our availably on the calendar on the righthand side of this page before contacting me directly. :)
PARK N SURF #1 has a better view, more space and privacy. If available, I recommend it.
PARK N SURF #2 is along side and inner ranch road and a car or two may pass by from other camp.
Both sites are exposed to sweet free roaming horses. Finally, plz note that for social distancing purposes this camp is assigned to the Porta potty use only: other bathrooms in shower house are divided and assigned to the other camps,
Cheers!

Perfect spot for a private pit stop and an adventure regardless of the short stay. Especially if you’re passing through on Highway 1. Our favorite part might even have been the treasure hunt to find our campsite on their beautiful land thanks to Montrese’s perfectly detailed, wonderfully quirky instructions. We stayed at site #1 and would recommend it if you have the choice between #1 and #2 (it’s slightly larger and has a view of the ocean). Head to the lighthouse in the morning to look out for elephant seals and migrating whales!

Site was as described - as noted, was limited to evening, early morning so not able to wander around. Clear directions - which were needed to get to the site. Excellent communication with host.
The description is accurate, and everything went super smooth. However, you have to realize that it's really a place to spend the night and leave, and it's very basic. It's no problem if you arrive late (the directions will get you there, they worked well for us in pitch black).
But if you need a place to stay in the Bay area, and don't mind basic camping, it's a very fun and adventurous experience.
I think the price Is too high according with actually Is provided. The nature Is fine but there are so much rules that you cannot even enjoy it. There is not water and we couldn't use the 'toilet'. It would be ok if at least the price was lower.
It’s a cool lil sanctuary, but a lil bit of a mission after dark opening and closing gates. But that’s ranch life.
Beautiful spot; we definitely plan to come again!
Although this is more of just an overnight, in and out in 12 hours kind of site, it was still magical, based on the fact that Montrese is providing an amazing service to rescue horses. There are many rules to follow to insure the safety of the horses, but it was worth every word we had to read on the directions. I appreciated knowing that this kind of place exists and that I had the opportunity to be a part of it. I would have never known about it, but because of hipcamp and Montrese's willingness to host people on her land, I got to experience it for myself and share it with others. If you are willing just to have a place to overnight, I would recommend this place 100%. having to leave by 8AM got us on our way, too, so that was a helpful side bonus!!
Beautiful location. The directions are really great! The free roaming dogs chased our car for a ways which made me a bit nervous, but I loved waking up to the sound of the horses.
We loved the scenery both on the way to our spot and once we arrived. It really is a special place and completely off the grid. The winds and cold feel especially strong, so be prepared! The porta-potty is distance away too, so if you are tent camping, be prepared for a short walk. Montrese was kind and informative. She made sure we knew what we were fully aware of what type of site it was and gave recommendations for future stays.
