Just off scenic Highway 1, WagMore is a 63 acre property, 10 minutes from the quaint harbor town of Morro Bay and 15 minutes from Montana de Oro. Our happiest campers are those who prefer closeness with nature over a lot of amenities. This primitive camp site offers privacy, wildlife viewing and room to roam while still being a short drive to many amenities and attractions in the Central Coast. Camp WagMore (overflow) is part of the original Camp WagMore but is now listed separately to better describe the features of the site. Located up a bumpy gravel road, at the top of the property, the overflow site is best suited for tents and smaller vans and truck campers. There are no ammenities at this site but there is a water spigot back down the road. The site can accommodate up to two smaller vehicles plus a tent or one vans/camper. Although the road is rough, a two-wheel drive vehicle can make it--I drive my minivan up it all the time, and we've had many a Prius make the trip! Tall campers or RVs/5th-wheels of any size should not attempt access to the camp because of the overhead clearance and narrow road. Also, please note there are some overhead power lines pretty close to the site.

In Morro Bay just up the highway, visitors can enjoy beaches, fishing, boating, whale watching, surfing and SUP. Nearby Montana de Oro offers fantastic mountain biking and hiking. Also, the southern part of Big Sur is day tripping distance up Highway 1 from the camp where visitors will find spectacular scenery and hiking.

Lori was very accommodating. She opened up a space on her property for us when the other sites were full! The non-overflow sites are situated in beautiful coastal oak groves. There is a magical hike through the forest of native oaks and coastal lichen. (Watch for some poison oak too!) The property was quiet and worked great for our last minute get away. Close to Morro Bay beaches and SLO!

The listing is honest and accurate. Private site, no amenities. The overflow was a bit sloped so a little awkward for sleeping but site was what was expected, as listed. I could see that the regular sites for this location were private and the area was pretty. Nice hiking trail and felt very safe.

Great spot to stop for the night! We ended up at Overflow site B and had a nice view of the valley and adjacent mountain. Site was right next to a trail head that took you down to the bottom entrance. We had no issues getting up to the site with our truck / truck tent. We would love to come back and try out other sites - thanks Lori!

We really enjoyed our campsite on the hill, but I was a little surprised to drive by a camper below us who had targets out for shooting practice. In the night we heard gunshots, which made me uncomfortable. Other than that, I loved seeing the wild turkeys coming through every morning and evening. We also saw a majestic barn owl while we were on a hike. The privacy and the wildlife were delightful!

I’m sorry you felt concerned. Our amazing maintenance guy uses the target for shooting arrows. We do not allow firearm use on the property but sometimes the farmer in the valley below scares off deer eating in his field. I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay!
