Just off scenic Highway 1, WagMore is a 63 acre property, 10 minutes from the quaint harbor town of Morro Bay and 15 minutes from Montana de Oro. This camp offers several primitive sites with plenty of privacy and access to hiking, wildlife and beautiful scenery while still being close to many attractions in the Central Coast. Camp WagMore (upper sites) is part of the original Camp WagMore but is now listed separately to better describe the types of vehicles suited for this section of the property. WagMore (upper sites) includes sites 2, 3, and 4 which are nestled within the oaks and grassland and are best suited for tents, smaller vans/campers and small trailers meant for rough terrain. Although the road is a bit rough, a two-wheel drive vehicle can make it--I drive my minivan up it all the time, and we've had many a Prius make the trip! We do NOT recommend taller campers, or RVs/5th-wheels of any size because of the overhead clearance and narrow road.
In Morro Bay just up the highway, visitors can enjoy beaches, fishing, boating, whale watching, surfing and SUP. Nearby Montana de Oro offers fantastic mountain biking and hiking. Also, the southern part of Big Sur is day tripping distance up Highway 1 from the camp where visitors will find spectacular scenery and hiking.
Our happiest campers are those who prefer privacy and closeness with nature over a lot of amenities.

The drive to the site from HWY 1 and at the site itself have a great scenic views just a few steps away

Lori's pre-trip communications were perfect. The site was easy to find, even arriving late at night, because her directions were very clear. I didn't explore the area as it was a very short trip but I definitely hope to visit again in the future.

Thanks! Come see us again!
Wagmore is a great location to visit and Morro Bay is so close. The campsites are spacious and peaceful. There were turkeys running around and a few lizards. You can take a hike if you want too and the views are lovely especially at sunset. Be sure to put on mosquito repellent if you are at all like me. The mosquitos love me!😳 Lori was very helpful and responded very quickly to any questions or concerns and made me feel welcome.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed your stay :)
The terrain is beautiful, the location is great and the sites seem well kept, but when we arrived the site we had reserved was occupied, so we chose to set up camp up the hill and off the road (nice view but close enough to powerlines to hear electricity crackle). To Lori's credit she offered to ask the other campers to move, but since we arrived late in the day and it was already close to sunset (and we have a toddler) we chose to forego that option. I believe the booking and check-in cause some confusion since upon arrival you are asked to place an "occupied" sign on your site, which makes it seem like it's first come/ first serve. Maybe some sort of calendar with the site reservations posted at that check-in would clear things up. The site we had hoped to camp on was definitely the best one, site #3.
That being said, not sure if it was especially loud due to our chosen spot being higher up the hill and unprotected, but the sound of the freeway was very noticeable (and the freeway was visible). Same can be said for the powerlines that run through the property... probably not as loud from the actual numbered sites.
Otherwise this is a pleasant spot, and I would camp here again (with the caveat of arriving early enough to ensure I got the site I actually reserved). Beautiful rock formation visible from everywhere, nice woods throughout, woke up to turkey's gobbling nearby. Awesome Montaña de Oro park is a short drive away.

Thanks for the input. This is our first month using the reserve-a-specific-spot system and we're ironing out a few glitches. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Amazing spot! We stayed 2 nights and had a great time! Will definitely be back! Host Lori was very responsive and helpful!
We had a great time and the host Lori was very responsive to our needs. The camp site was a great location and private location within the property. I had a rough time sleeping the first night because I heard footsteps outside our tent, but once I saw in the morning that the footsteps were from wild turkeys, I was able to have better sleep the second night =). I highly recommend this site, and will becoming back! Thanks Lori!
Great spot! Very private. Excellent directions to the area. Will def be back in we are going to SLO.
We loved it here so much we extended our stay for four nights! Lori was super accommodating and very friendly. Super private and plenty of little lizards and wild turkeys come to visit. This place is a gem and we will definitely come back when we go on our next road trip from Canada! Super close to Morro Bay.
