Quiet field to camp across dry creek bed. We have 3 dogs that roam hills, will do our best to keep them away most of the time. Have rooster who does crow up the sun. We are 15 minutes to Safeway in Lakeport, 20 minutes to south side Ukiah and 10 minutes to Upper Lake. We are 2 miles from the pristine Blue Lakes, day pass there for swimming and boating rentals. Also Clear Lake State Park is not far and they also offer swimming and boating. We are not ADA. Cell phone and wifi won't work in this canyon. Climb the hill maybe. We are not fancy, we are unique. Better than glamping
This was such a rad experience! We thought staying in a caboose would be fun, but it was so much nicer than we expected! The private outdoor tub and shower are really cool, we all enjoyed showering outside under a tree. The property is beautiful, loved the way light enters the valley in the morning, but there is shade to be found throughout the day. Val had the caboose nice and cool for our arrival, with cold surprises waiting for us in the fridge. We stayed with our two kids, Mama and big sister slept in the caboose while Papa and little sister slept on the deck out under the stars. The nighttime view of the star-studded sky was amazing, and the weather was perfect for it. We stayed here as we explored Clear Lake and Blue Lakes, and it was a great spot we look forward to staying at again. Everyone we encountered was so friendly, we can't wait to go back!
Starry queer escape
I booked a night at the caboose because I was looking last minute and nearby campgrounds were filled up. Though more pricey than a campsite the pictures made it seem worthwhile so I decided to splurge. And WOW did this place exceed my expectations.
The caboose is renovated into a dreamy studio, beautifully painted and carefully decorated. There is a Queen sized air mattress, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and room to spare. I mean, I would 100% live in this thing if I could. Then behind the caboose there is an open air shower and bathtub, from which you can look up through the branches of a walnut tree and see the expanse of stars glittering over this gorgeous valley. We spent the evening outside on the beautiful patio listening to the crickets serenading us and gazing at the milky way.
Our hosts were super welcoming, pulling up to say hello and check if we needed anything, and even brought us fresh eggs from their chickens to enjoy for breakfast the following day. We spent the day hiking through gorgeous hills and harvesting fresh blackberries which grow along the roads everywhere here. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
