A great getaway with my 2 dogs
Robert was great to deal with. He was very quick to respond to emails/texts. The site was exactly as described, sandwiched between numerous farms, the road in is a little bumpy, but there's everything from sedans to large trucks driving it. The area is gorgeous, Feather falls is a must in the area if you enjoy hiking, the lake is also great, but be sure to rent a boat prior to your trip to really enjoy it.
If you ever pass by small roads in the countryside and wonder what the farms and land is like further from the highway, this is your dream spot. What a joy driving through farms and ranch land to get to Bob & Chris's property. We stayed here as a stop on a road trip and it was wonderful to show up to a campsite and have a tent already built, shaded table & benches, and a toilet - while still feeling completely remote and removed from people which was the goal of our stay due to COVID. The land is hilly and dotted with scrubby trees and rocks, with horses in a pen near the campsite. Do note this is in a farming community, so be ready to hear some noises from neighboring farms + cars on the gravel road in the AM. Personally, I loved waking up to roosters and the sounds that made me feel like part of the community! I wish we had more time to explore the property and area, I would love to come back in the spring when the grasses are green!
Highly recommend for newer campers
Had a great time here!! Robert was super nice and welcoming, even when we had issues with the directions(our fault, not his). It was super clean and everything was set up and ready when we got there. It was beautiful and not too isolated from society. If you aren’t ready for full on tent camping, but want that outdoorsy feel, this place is perfect!
We had a wonderful time!
Everything about the site is beautiful, comfortable and super family friendly. My kiddo LOVED the swing and seeing the animals on the farm. Bob is an awesome host!
The land is beautiful, as pictured. I wish we had been a bit more mentally prepared for the bathroom situation, which is a trash bag connected to a toilet seat inside a small tent structure (that doesn't close) right next to one of the sleeping tent setups... we ended up planning trips into town around bathroom needs! The last couple miles of the road are rougher to drive than we expected, rocky and near thorns that may mess up your car, but doable. We just wished that we had a heads up on those things -- otherwise it's a nice spot!
A much needed break...
We had a wonderful stay at Trank Family Farm. Robert and Chris were gracious hosts and helped us plan pre-trip including setting up a cooler so we didn’t have to when we arrived. My sons (6&7) and I enjoyed our first evening hiking along the stream to catch frogs and tadpoles along with fresh blackberries ripe for picking.
Next morning, Robert guided us to a nearby lake where the boys and I went kayaking, swinging into the waters, watching eagles and enjoyed a picnic lunch. He came back a few hours later and took the kayak back to camp while we went and explored Lake Oroville beach area. We bought some corn and went back to camp late afternoon to feed the Llamas, goats, and Riley the donkey. All 14 goats have secretly been named by the boys.
Absolute favorite part for me was sitting at the top of the hill on a blanket while watching the boys “herd” goats. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay and look forward to our next one.
Great primitive glamping! Directions on GPS are incorrect, make sure to follow the directions Robert provided!
Robert was lovely as he checked in on us the next morning as he knew we were lost before.
Would stay again!!
Make sure to bring lots of light for the eve!
