If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
A peaceful winding drive through the El Dorado County countryside marks the start to this beautiful gem off the beaten path. We met our host Justin when we arrived - he showed us where we could find some fresh eggs for our breakfast and the path down to the yurt. It’s a bit of a walk down to the yurt, so make sure when you’re packing you can haul your belongings down the mountain for a good 5 min hike. It feels almost like you’ve discovered this amazing hideout yourself once you see the red canvas through the trees. Once you’re inside the yurt, it feels quite home-y :) The wood-burning fireplace & couch combo make it quite cozy. There’s a kitchen section with plenty of water, camp stove, and some pots and pans for your cooking needs. There are a couple of different sleeping arrangements - perfect for a family trip or you and some friends!
If you want to explore around the yurt the creek is pretty close, just follow the sound of the babbling brook :) There’s also plenty of trails around to keep your legs a-walkin’ for a bit.
It was so nice to get away here and spend some time at this secluded spot, definitely feel recharged after our visit.
Delightful yurt getaway!
Tilted Hill was amazing! We didn’t know what to expect and we’re totally put at ease when we showed up. Justin and Clint were warm and kind when they greeted us. They showed us around and introduced us to their animals. We absolutely loved the adorable goats! The yurt was down the property a ways so even though the guys were nearby if we needed to connect with them we still felt very comfortable with privacy and that we could relax on our own. The yurt itself was way bigger than I anticipated! It was huge! It had a tall ceiling and cool skylight and was easy to keep warm. There were a couple options for sleeping arrangements so we could’ve had a couple more friends with us if we had wanted to. It was very clean and totally dialed in for us. We had a couple days to hang out. One of those days we just lounged around and explored their beautiful property. There is quite a bit of land that we spent a good half the day walking around, we didn’t go as deep as we could’ve though. The next day we went wine tasting at a few local wineries, there are a ton of them within a few minutes drive of our location. If the weather had been a little warmer we would have gone swimming, there are a few river spots nearby. We drove by and walked to them. They are gorgeous but it was still a little chilly for getting wet.
Overall it was a great experience. It was exactly what we were hoping for and it exceeded our expectations. I felt like we showed up as Clint and Justins guests but left as friends. We will definitely be coming back! 10s across the board!
Tilited Hill was such a great experience! Me and my husband wanted to get away and this was a perfect spot! It was nice and secluded and so peaceful. We had a problem with our reservation but Justin was very helpful and understanding! The Yurt was very spacious and had everything we needed to have a great weekend.
Tranquil hidden oasis
Our stay in the yurt was very relaxing. It’s a hidden oasis in the forest with lots of land to wander and explore. We didn’t leave the site in the 2 days we stayed —there was so much to see.
The creek was a 1min walk from the yurt, and we followed it upstream to find several swimming holes and waterfalls. We even panned for gold!
I would recommend bringing a cart or cooler with wheels to carry your supplies, as there is about a 5min walk through the forest. The yurt did have all the heavy supplies you would need, including plenty of wood and water.
The surrounding area has a TON of vineyards, and would be a great spot for biking and touring during the day, although, we were personally very occupied by lazing around the creek with our pup!
Great big yurt
I loved staying here! I highly recommend, but would suggest to bring bug spray due to the high amount of mosquitos. The yurt is huge, and the fire place keeps it nice and toasty. Will be back again for sure !
Great location set back in the woods. Very comforting for a glamping type of experience. Never camped in a yurt, so it was a great experience. Tge wood burning stove was great! Beds were clean and there was plenty of room for us. Nice for those rainy weekends when you still want to get away.
Wonderful slice of paradise!
What a fantastic place--we LOVED our stay in the yurt! I highly recommend bringing some wagons to haul your stuff to the site (it is about 1/4 mile down a hill from the parking lot). It took us a number of trips to get all of our stuff down the hill, but once we were there, we appreciated being away from all signs of civilization. The yurt is huge and beautiful--no running water or electricity--but the hosts thoughtfully provided a huge jug of drinking water plus some water for washing dishes. There is a private outhouse a short distance away (it was nice and clean and had hand sanitizer--just bring extra toilet paper). Inside the yurt, there is a camp stove with some basic pots and pans (bring propane for it), along with a couch, a full bed, a bunk bed, table and chairs. For a tent in the woods, it was remarkably spider and bug-free! We loved the fact that the screened-in windows gave some relief from the mosquitoes. Bring bug spray--and lots of it! Keep a sharp eye out for poison oak (two of us managed to get into it despite our best efforts). There is no outdoor picnic table or chairs, so if you have a portable camping table and chairs, bring them. There is a little stream a short walk from the site which was lovely during the hot days. Justin and his husband Clint (the hosts) were wonderful and we loved meeting all the animals. We will definitely be back!
Total seclusion in paradise
This one was of the best vacations I have ever had. And I travel a lot. We were there for 3 days and I did not see one other person. This is total privacy and seclusion. We hiked around the acreage and swam in the swimming hole/creek, and never saw a soul. I’m California this is nearly impossible. And then there’s the yurt. It is so beautiful! It surpasses the pictures. Incredibly clean, with lots of added touches that make this a perfect romantic retreat or a family escape to nature. Ten out of ten stars. Absolutely incredible.
