The Rising Moon Yurt is a one-of-a-kind vacation rental set in the West Sonoma County wine country backroads. Welcome to The Rising Moon Yurt!

Yurt living encompasses a calming, light-filled space, inspiring and guiding those who are seeking a different kind of trip... the kind of living that encourages a deeper engagement with one’s surroundings.

_

The Rising Moon Yurt is perched on a southern facing hillside with sweeping views of redwood trees and vineyards. Located at the top of our property, The Rising Moon Yurt exudes the feeling of solitude. Furnished with all of the modern conveniences, and a California Modern vibe, we set out to create a unique yurt experience which has every single comfort of a boutique hotel; from making locally roasted organic coffee in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, practicing some morning yoga on the deck, or by soaking in the outdoor cast iron tub surrounded by a starry night sky. Designed with country living in mind, our hope is that you enjoy being surrounded by nature!

*Complimentary Taylor Lane Organic Coffee and Traditional Medicinals Wellness Teas*

The Rising Moon Yurt is 30 feet in diameter (the largest yurt out there) and is best suited for a couple. But, can accommodate up to four people. There is a super comfy queen size canopy bed with privacy curtains, and a sleeper couch that can be used as a queen sized guest bed. Linens (and guest bed linens), sleeping eye masks, ear plugs, iron, and umbrellas are all available for your convenience. There is AC/Heating, wifi, bluetooth radio, and a smart TV (with Apple TV & Netflix).

*Tuft & Needle Mattress*

There is a full kitchen complete with an island and barstools, dining table and chairs, a new gas range, cookware and utensils, filtered drinking water from the kitchen faucet (sourced from our property's well), toaster, electric kettle, coffee grinder, coffee maker, french press, pour overs... everything needed for your morning ritual. And, of course wine glasses and barware... everything needed for entertaining your own wine and cheese happy hour!

*Heath Tile and Smeg Refrigerator/Freezer*

The yurt has lots of natural sunlight, hardwood floors, and beautiful french doors. All windows and doors have roller blinds and curtains for complete privacy. There is a ceiling fan which helps with keeping the yurt cool during hot months, and keeps the heat down during colder months. The yurt's central ceiling dome remains closed and allows sunlight in during the days and night sky views during the night. There are board games, cards, books, a turntable with records, and yoga mats.

The bath house is located outside, set upon the private deck. It has a toilet, sink, attached outdoor shower, and an outdoor cast iron soaking tub tucked under a beautiful Oak tree. In the bath house, there is a wall heater that can be turned on with a timer dial, warming up the bath house within minutes. Organic hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, towels, hair dryer, robes, and outdoor slider shoes are available for your use.

Experience the sights and sounds of our loving wildlife... deer, lizards, wild turkeys, woodpeckers, owls, all sorts of birds, coyotes, and our friendly resident bobcat. Feel free to pick from the surrounding fruit trees (apple, grapefruit, & plum), berry bushes, grapes, and herbs, when in season!

The back sun deck is a wonderful place for lounging and enjoying sweeping views of one of Kendall Jackson's Pinot Noir vineyards; observing the birds soar; watching the occasional fog rolling in over the distant hilltops; listening to the sounds of our seasonal creek; dining al fresco; or, simply watching the moon rise into a starry night.

Community:

The Rising Moon Yurt rests out in the country, and is conveniently located only a few miles (10 minute drive) from the town center of Sebastopol, which is known for it's laid-back community, natural beauty and rich agricultural heritage. Popularized by hippies during the 1960’s, a sign declaring Sebastopol a “Nuclear Free Zone” still stands downtown. Farmer's markets and independent shops all add to the community's sustainable lifestyle. Originally an apple orchard town, Sebastopol is now primarily a grape-growing region. The wineries, craft breweries, micro-distilleries, tasting rooms, and farm-to-table restaurants in the area have made Sebastopol into the sophisticated wine country destination that it is today!

_

Stay local, and explore all that Sebastopol has to offer...

- WINE TASTING. Too many wineries to name, but one of our favorites is Iron Horse Vineyards (take in the views and sip on some sparkling).

- Visit the downtown Barlow, a 12-acre industrial-chic outdoor market district featuring local food, wine, beer, spirits made onsite by Sonoma County artisans (including Golden State Cider, Taylor Lane Organic Coffee, Crooked Goat Brewery, Woodfour Brewery, Guayaki Yerba Mate, and Community Market).

- Hiking or visit the annual Gravenstein Apple Fair (in August) at Ragle Ranch Regional Park.

- Hang out and enjoy coffee at Hardcore Espresso, just a short drive away.

- Attend a show at the downtown HopMonk Tavern music venue.

- Hike the miles of freshwater wetlands in the Laguna Wetlands Preserve which offers trails and ample birdwatching.

_

For visitors looking to enjoy the wilds of the region, guests can explore all that the Sonoma Coast has to offer...

- Oysters at Hog Island Oyster Co. on Tomales Bay.

- Seafood and chowder at Bodega Bay eateries.

- Fresh bread at Wild Flour Bakery at Freestone.

- Take a stroll through the small town of Occidental and enjoy a craft beer at Barley and Hops Tavern.

- Don't forget dinner, drinks, and Bocce at the Underwood Bar and Bistro in the nearby town of Graton.

_

Spend the day kayaking or tubing the Russian River. Grab a Pliny the Elder at Russian River Brewery. Visit the majestic trees at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Or, travel east to the Sonoma and Napa Valley regions, known for hundreds of hillside vineyards. It's all within close proximity!

Other Things to Note:

[1.] Don't forget to stop in town to pick up groceries before arriving;)

[2.] Please advise us of any damage upon arrival. You will be held responsible and charged accordingly, for any damage to the yurt, or surrounding property, other then regular wear and tear.

[3.] Your safety is EXTREMELY important! Use extreme caution and hold handrails while walking up and down yurt entry slate pathway (as it may be slick when wet). Take caution around the deck, as it is high up.

[4.] We are on a septic system. Please DO NOT flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet. This includes, but is not limited to, baby wipes (or wipes of any kind), feminine hygiene products, facial tissue, paper towel, hair etc. These things will clog the system and you will not be able to use the shower, sinks or toilets.

[5.] In the country, bugs are simply a fact of life. Even though we have the yurt cleaned after each guest, we simply can't avoid the occasional ant from breaking in.

[6.] No professional photoshoots without written approval and the payment of additional fees. This includes sponsored posts both in kind and/or paid. A sponsored post is defined as a paid project by a brand offering monetary compensation or compensation of goods in exchange for services)

[7.] Special events or parties are not permitted without written approval and the payment of additional fees.

[8.] When checking-out, please make sure that your dishes are cleaned. If dishes are left undone an additional cleaning fee may be taken out of your security deposit. Make sure that no food is left out, all windows and doors are shut and locked, AC/Heating unit is turned off, stove/oven is turned off, all lights and ceiling fan are turned off. Pile linens, towels, slider shoes, and robes by the front door. Please make sure that everything is in the general place that it was found upon arrival!

Ashley & Justin’s hospitality was amazing right from the start. They sent us a beautiful pdf guide for the yurt. The property was easy to find and private as we expected with the clear instructions. When we open the door to the yurt, we were warmly welcomed with dim lights, wonderful jazz music, and a thoughtful note. Way to set the mood to an amazing trip!

When we booked this place, we fell in love with the aesthetic and privacy of Ashley & Justin’s yurt. The pictures were accurate. The Yurt was even more lovely in person. They went above and beyond to every little detail of filling the yurt with all the necessities and extra perks (kitchenware, coffee, tea, shampoo/conditioner, towels, hair dryer, eye mask, ear plugs, slippers, robes, entertainment, etc). Honestly, it felt like a luxury stay. The bed was comfortable and warm. The couch was perfect for lounging, netflix, and board games. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for the whole weekend. Although it was raining during our stay, we stayed dry and cozy. We definitely will come back when the weather is nice. Overall, we couldn’t have had a perfect getaway. Thank you so much for our first experience with Hipcamp and staying in a beautiful yurt!

To say that my wife and I had an amazing stay at The Rising Moon Yurt would be an understatement. From the moment we pulled into the property, we could sense that Ashley & Justin had paid attention to every little detail of the experience. Here are just a few of the things that made it unforgettable: detailed written directions to get us to where Waze or Google Maps probably wouldn't; cute hand-painted signs at the gate; the greeting of quiet jazz as you walk through the door; the creature comforts of a fully-stocked kitchen with gas range and double sink; a hand-written note from the hosts with a hardcover yurt guide to answer any FAQs about the property; blazing-fast WiFi; smart TV with complementary Netflix; deep layback sofa with Woolrich & Pendleton blankets for getting cozy; queen-sized bed with nearby AC/heater; French doors leading to a serene and private balcony overlooking tree lines and farm fields; outdoor shower and bathtub with hot water; heated bathhouse with a sink dropped into a sawhorse table. The list goes on.

This was no ordinary glamping getaway: this was high-quality DIY resort treatment. For Ashley & Justin to put this much thought in the details makes you appreciate the fact that they have opened their home for others to share, to enjoy, to respect and keep clean, to fall in love with, to come back again, as we most certainly will.

What an incredible place! Secluded yet close to everything. Ashley and Justin’s attention to detail is impeccable—better than most five star hotels. From the freshly cut flowers to multiple coffee-making options, they’ve made this space really special for their guests.

This place blew my mind. It's beautiful and has every detail thought through. I never wanted to leave and will definitely be coming back. Ashley and Justin were incredible communicators and kept us updated weeks before coming on the situation with the forest fires. Great hosts and thankful for all of their hospitality!

The rising moon yurt is sure a gem! Aside from being located on a beautiful area with beautiful views the yurt itself was sparkling clean and full of features. It was obvious that every little detail was intentional aside from aesthetically pleasing. It's no secret the owners have great taste and sure know how to create a comfortable and cozy environment for their guests. From their recommendations in the yurt guide book we loved strolling around the Barlow and Splurging on a nice dinner at the Fern. Big bonus points for the outdoor shower!! Even under some rain and in the cold it was so enjoyable ans relaxing! Thank you Ashley and Justin!
