A working sheep ranch next to the Manchester State Beach with huge open views of the ocean. Right next to nature trails, sand dune walks, and the beach itself, this site is super private while being close to everything. Please note that this is the coast during the summer so it may be a bit busier than usual.
Enjoy over 3 acres to camp on while you watch the hawks fly overhead in the day and listen to the owls at night.
Directions- off of Highway 1 make the turn onto Kinney Road and Manchester Beach. Pass the KOA and make the next left hand turn through the double gates and into the farm. Find any open site and set up camp! These are dispersed sites that are first come first serve. Please note that fire danger is very real in California. Depending on the time of year, weather, and local regulations, we may have to ask campers to not have fires.

The vibe at Oceanfront Pasture Camping
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Peaceful grassy pasture where you can see and hear the ocean. Once they have bathroom facility on site it'll be pretty close to perfect. Nice fire pits, some picnic tables, some chairs, a great dish washing station, and all the good fire wood you could want onsite and included. The host was there if you needed anything. The beach is a short walk down the road, and is a long lovely beach to stroll. State beach campground across the street is closed but the flush toilets are clean and available for the Hipcampers.
The Paddocks was still a work in progress when we were there in Feb of 2018. Great location, very accommodating, easy access to beach and town. The surrounding trees provide a much needed wind break when the weather turns blustery, yet you sill have a view. Great for hammocks. Flat camping sites, easy to get to.
I definitely recommend camping here! I took Highway 1 up from Marin and the whole drive was gorgeous. Once you get there, drive five minutes or take the scenic walk to Manchester State Park and enjoy the beach. Tons of places to explore, including nearby Point Arena Lighthouse and the cute downtown area, but relaxing at the campsite is also a great option thanks to all the prime hammocking spots.
Safe, quiet, easy to locate, flat parking. This was a really nice campsite CLOSE to the ocean. You are still a walk/drive from the beach but it is a really nice walk down a low traffic road. We found this site to be very nice with friendly staff and camp neighbors. We were one of 3 staying the night in the pasture. Off leash dog rules are always nice and our pup found a friend a couple sites over. We made a point to stop and see the sheep in the morning. Overall a great coastal camping experience and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great overnight campsite.
This place is right near the beach. Ocean vew from our canping spot, and just minutes from the light house. The KOA is next door ao we were able to buy supplies and food items that we did not bring to our trip. Its cold during spring so bring warm clothing and extra blankets. The out house in on the site. We drove to the beach on our second day there and it was beautiful. The sky is amazing at night.
