The Mother Ship

Potter Valley, Lake, California
Hosted by Tanya L.
Lake Pillsbury Ranch of which our cabin is a small part of, was once one big property that in it's glory days served as a get-away for movie industry pro's from Los Angeles who would fly up (airstrip 2 miles away) for the weekend and party their behinds off behind closed gates sans paparazzi and then fly back down. They'd play polo and go horseback riding along with the usual mischief. In the 1960's one of the stars from The Wizard of Oz, Jack Haley, along with other investors bought the ranch, subdivided it & started selling tracts where owners could build their own home. Ours was built in 1969 from a kit developed by a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright originally as a summer home, shaded under a forest canopy on the side of a hill. Just a few miles from Lake Pillsbury, with fishing and boating available, the ranch offers security and privacy. Swimming pond on ranch, miles of walks. We are on 1.2 acres but there are 4 other cabins visible from ours however we are far apart enough to not hear or see much of the other. At night, a short walk away to the clearing at the end of the road rewards guests with a spectacular nighttime explosion of unobstructed stars and the milky way.
