Specific Campsite Overview:
Our Top Site is our largest campsite, able to accommodate up to 12 campers. has amazing 360 degree views, easily accessible, and close to the Community BBQ/Fire Pit Area, Community Bathrooms, the Community Play Area "The Flat", and the Community Pond. Approximately 6 standard size tents will fit at this campsite without being crowded. This site is a little further away from the bathrooms than the others, about 150 feet, however it is the highest point on the property and has incredible views, as well as overlooks the pond. This site can have 3-4 standard sized vehicles on site.
Overall Property Overview:
We have 8 sites on approximately 3 very secluded acres, and the whole campground is a close walk to the beautiful charming East Village of Cambria! Over an acre is what we call The Flat, a large open area to run and play. The 8 campsites with picnic tables are located close to the community bathrooms, fire pit/BBQ area, pond, and open play area. All of our sites are a great place to wake up to a cup of coffee while you watch the sunrise. Our beautiful wildlife includes, turkeys, quail, hawks, ducks, frogs, lizards, turtles, deer, raccoons, CA Condors and much more. DO NOT TOUCH OR MESS WITH OUR WILDLIFE.
On The Flat there is a beautiful pond that you can swim in. The pond has a dock, a aerator to keep the water oxygenated, fish, frogs, plants and turtles. The pond was recently scraped, so it has not had the time to grow plants on the sides and bottom, so it is still churning up some clay and the water has not cleared up yet, but it’s just oxygenated rain water and some organic clay.
We have a very nice Community BBQ/fire pit area with seating, two restrooms and a double head shower room all a close walk from all sites. We DO NOT ALLOW any kind of fire/heat on any part of the property besides the designated BBQ/Fire pit areas and inside the cabin because of high fire risk in our town. Also, well, we want to promote a community type campground, where socializing and getting to know new fun people is encouraged! That is our favorite part aside from the beautiful nature! Get to know some new cool Hipcampers!!! Fire safety is our #1 rule alongside having a great time :-)
On one side of The Flat is our beautiful old growth Live Oak Grove, which is about as peaceful and magical as it gets, it has a tire swing that kids love, the other side is a amazing Old Growth Eucalyptus Grove with some of the largest trees in Slo County, trees 150'+ tall and up to 10' in diameter. This Eucalyptus area is open to explore, however it is used for my Tree Care business, where I store my equipment as well as wood and wood chips. This area is about the furthest from the campground area on the property along with my home.
There is a beautiful walking trail through the oak grove to downtown. If you are at the cabin, and looking in between the fire pit and the bathroom, that is the direction to the oak grove, where the tire swing is, and the path that goes downtown. Follow the old road. Once you take the path and get to the street, which is Wall St, take a right and you will go straight to downtown, or take a left and you will end up on Bridge St, which is a beautiful walk up a secluded road through the forest to the Cambria Cemetery.
The back of the property boarders a large ranch/nature preserve which is a dense Monterey Pine forest, and the front side of the property is the old village of Cambria. The property is elevated above town, giving the feel of being in the middle of the forest with total privacy, yet you are only a 5 minute walk to the village. The old village of Cambria has everything you could want on a vacation. We have True Earth Market, which is an organic health food/grocery store with a kitchen that makes a killer sandwich! Next to True Earth is our historic saloon Mozzis with pool tables, snooker table, karaoke, and the wildest crowd you've ever ran into! There are lots of shops to peruse including the world famous Linn's Pie Shop. Amazing restaurants, from old fashioned diners, to fine dining, including Cambria's famous Robin's Restaurant, and our favorite, Madeline's which is a 5 minute drive to the West Side of Town. Also a 5 minute walk will get you to Vyana Wellness Center, offering massage, yoga, and a variety of wellness classes. About a 10 minute walk will get you to Cambria's dog park. About a 12 minute walk will get you to Cambria's Gym One fitness club offering a weight room, cardio room, physical therapy, and a wide variety of classes. The beach is a 5 minute drive, 10 minute bike ride, and a 35-45 minute walk. Hearst Castle is a 12 minute drive. Salmon Creek Trail is a 30 minute drive, which is a absolutely amazing experience!

Great getaway spot up over downtown Cambria.! We loved the beautiful views, flat play area, and double outdoor shower 🙂. Only a brief walking to amazing food places and quaint shops (once they get to fully open back up from Covid sheltering).
Buddy responded quickly, was polite, and personally escorted us to our campsite. We have a Lance cabover camper with a 2 wheel drive truck and were able to get up to the uppermost (Large Flat) for awesome sunrise over the hills and sunset into eucalyptus trees.
This is a great place to stay if you want to feel like you got away but still be close to delicious meals. There is a sink provided in the flat area in case you decide to cook your own and need to wash dishes. We have absolutely no complaints about this Hipcamp but had a
question about the upside down American flag with the words "Police State" written on it at the front of the house (didn't notice till our last day) and we'll certainly get the history on that before checking in again...other than that, the location, atmosphere and views are worth repeat visits!
First off, Buddy is a great host and has prepared an awesome place for good memories for all. This unique space next to the cute town of Cambria is perfect. Everything you need for a relaxing romantic getaway!
Came here to get some normalcy from "stay at home" in our camper and found community with other like minded folks doing the same. The filtered drinking facet was a great touch and the dual head shower overlooking the flat was liberating!

Great spot close to town. Definitely would stay again.
Great site, great host, great town. No complaints at all. Thanks for everything Buddy!
This is a great campsite! Best maintained/nicest quality facilities I have ever seen at a camp. Buddy and the team provide basics like dish soap, shampoo, some TP, firewood, and even sponges which is very generous! One other bonus of this camp is that it’s really in the middle of Cambria (although still feels remote). We could have skipped packing in our meals and gotten delicious takeout at one of the many restaurants for multiple meals.
One downside is that due to high fire danger, campfires are not allowed at individual sites (this was fully understood before we booked). Unfortunately we stayed away from the (stocked with wood) shared campfire areas due to COVID concerns but some large family groups enjoyed them. We would definitely come back and rent multiple sites with friends in the future.
Great site, great experience and lots of great hiking in the area!

Very cute property. Well maintained. The outdoor dual shower with the view is amazing. Community fire and BBQ area was great as well. Very close to beautiful coastline, great wineries, restaurants, and hikes. Buddy was a very friendly and welcoming host. Great spot for a passing traveler, or a large group.
We didn't meet Buddy, but the guest host was nice. The camp area was clean and other guests were friendly. The communal fire pit was a nice touch and had a chance to meet new people. We didn't use the shower but there is a large sink for doing dishes and running toilets. There is a small pond- the water was too muddy for my taste but my dog loved it. The location is near downtown Cambria so you can hear some noise of cars driving by but it's minimal at night, plus Cambria is a cute town to visit. Hiking trails, beach, and parks within driving distance. We paid a little more and rented the Top site that felt private even with a full camp.
