Specific Campsite Overview:

Enchanted is a large campsite, able to accommodate up to 8 campers.  The site is large enough to fit 2 large tents or 4 standard tents  without being crowded.  The site has amazing 360 degree views, easily accessible, and close to the Community BBQ/Fire Pit Area, Community Bathrooms, the Community Play Area "The Flat", and the Community Pond.   Parking is right in front of the Enchanted sign, and fits 2 vehicles side by side.

Overall Campground Overview:

We have 13 sites on approximately 3 very secluded acres, and the whole campground is a close walk to the beautiful charming East Village of Cambria!  Over an acre is what we call The Flat, a large open area to run and play.   The 13 campsites with picnic tables are located close to the community bathrooms, fire pit/BBQ area, pond, and open play area.   All of our sites are a great place to wake up to a cup of coffee while you watch the sunrise.  Our beautiful wildlife includes, turkeys, quail, hawks, ducks, frogs, lizards, turtles, deer, raccoons, CA Condors and much more.  DO NOT TOUCH OR MESS WITH OUR WILDLIFE.

On The Flat there is a beautiful pond that you can swim in.  The pond has a dock, a aerator to keep the water oxygenated, fish, frogs, plants and turtles.  The pond was recently scraped, so it has not had the time to grow plants on the sides and bottom, so it is still churning up some clay and the water has not cleared up yet, but it’s just oxygenated rain water and some organic clay.

We have a very nice Community BBQ/fire pit area with seating, two restrooms and a double head shower room all a close walk from all sites.  We DO NOT ALLOW any kind of fire/heat on any part of the property besides the designated BBQ/Fire pit areas and inside the cabin because of high fire risk in our town.  Also, well, we want to promote a community type campground, where socializing and getting to know new fun people is encouraged! That is our favorite part aside from the beautiful nature!  Get to know some new cool Hipcampers!!!  Fire safety is our #1 rule alongside having a great time :-)

On one side of The Flat is our beautiful old growth Live Oak Grove, which is about as peaceful and magical as it gets, it has a tire swing that kids love, the other side is a amazing Old Growth Eucalyptus Grove with some of the largest trees in Slo County, trees 150'+ tall and up to 10' in diameter.  This Eucalyptus area is open to explore, however it is used for my Tree Care business, where I store my equipment as well as wood and wood chips.  This area is about the furthest from the campground area on the property along with my home.

There is a beautiful walking trail through the oak grove to downtown.  If you are at the cabin, and looking in between the fire pit and the bathroom, that is the direction to the oak grove, where the tire swing is, and the path that goes downtown.  Follow the old road.  Once you take the path and get to the street, which is Wall St, take a right and you will go straight to downtown, or take a left and you will end up on Bridge St, which is a beautiful walk up a secluded road through the forest to the Cambria Cemetery.

The back of the property boarders a large ranch/nature preserve which is a dense Monterey Pine forest, and the front side of the property is the old village of Cambria.  The property is elevated above town, giving the feel of being in the middle of the forest with total privacy, yet you are only a 5 minute walk to the village.  The old village of Cambria has everything you could want on a vacation.  We have True Earth Market, which is an organic health food/grocery store with a kitchen that makes a killer sandwich!  Next to True Earth is our historic saloon Mozzis with pool tables, snooker table, karaoke, and the wildest crowd you've ever ran into!  There are lots of shops to peruse including the world famous Linn's Pie Shop.  Amazing restaurants, from old fashioned diners, to fine dining, including Cambria's famous Robin's Restaurant, and our favorite, Madeline's which is a 5 minute drive to the West Side of Town.   Also a 5 minute walk will get you to Vyana Wellness Center, offering massage, yoga, and a variety of wellness classes.  About a 10 minute walk will get you to Cambria's dog park.  About a 12 minute walk will get you to Cambria's Gym One fitness club offering a weight room, cardio room, physical therapy, and a wide variety of classes.  The beach is a 5 minute drive, 10 minute bike ride, and a 35-45 minute walk.  Hearst Castle is a 12 minute drive.  Salmon Creek Trail is a 30 minute drive, which is a absolutely amazing experience!

Here are things I would want to know before coming.
* Beautiful views of the hillside!!
* Quick walk into town was nice!
* Wonderful nature sounds especially at night (birds, frogs), we saw wild turkeys which was very fun for kids!
* The bathroom amenities were really great. It was nice to have shampoo and dish soap provided and there's an electrical outlet. Hot showers and sink water were a really appreciated luxury while camping!
* The site is not as private as I would have thought from the photos. Other sites nearby were booked so we were very close to other campers. That's not a new thing for camping, some state campgrounds have sites that are very close together, but they cost a lot less than this place too. The only sites that seemed to have some privacy were the cabin, Live Oak, and Enchanted. Maybe the Top. Even Enchanted is a bit too close to Site #5, as we could hear every word our #5 neighbor said inside his tent in a quiet voice.
* The pond, which reflects blue skies in photos in the listing, was brown and muddy. It was listed like a swimming spot so we brought bathing suits but in real life did not feel tempted to dip a foot in. I did see Buddy's comments here that he is doing things to improve the pond so I'm not trying to be negative, just sharing the current state of it.
* Poison oak nearby under trees on the property, it's pretty well trimmed back but still need to be cautious with kids and dogs.
* The drinking water spout would stop working, I think it probably needs time to fill in between uses, but with people from all the different sites using it, it's not enough drinking water to go around. It doesn't refill again fast enough.

Overall we had a great stay and really liked being able to get away in a safe way after a few months of feeling cooped up at home. Buddy and Geoffrey have done an awesome job with this place and it seems like it will just get better over time!

The flat is a really beautiful little retreat. It felt like some sort of in-between, between camping and glamping. It wasn’t quite the camping experience since we didn’t have to set up our own tent and we had access to a toilet/shower, but also it wasn’t glitzy with many bells and whistles to the point where we felt like glamping. I really enjoyed my stay here and this sort of hybrid experience (close to the city, but from our photos you wouldn’t know.) This is the perfect spot for someone who isn’t used to camping and wants to try it out while also still being close to your car, a city with shops and necessities, and the beach a short drive away or bike ride away!
The location is incredible, we felt secluded and off on our own, but also it’s not too far from the city (you can walk to the Main Street in Cambria), there’s also a house a half mile away on the property that made us feel safe and less out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere in case we needed someone or something.
The check-in/checkout process was easy and the tent was comfortable and easily fit all 4 of us. We brought our own blankets and pillows to make it more cozy. All in all it’s a cute getaway and you can’t beat the price, it’s cheaper than a hotel and much cuter! Also, what other camping spot has a toilet? (SCORE!) We have so many awesome instagram pics and panoramas from staying here. Lastly, the best thing about this was the location, its RIGHT IN the heart of the town of Cambria, and for that, it was worth the money and we would definitely come back.

The outdoor shower is amazing! The outdoor shower is amazing!Righteous

Really awesome experience! We booked two adjoining sites - Sites 2 and the Enchanted Retreat. Perfect set-up for our group of 8 - we had a trailer, truck-campers, and several tents. We were blown away by the bathroom set-up (super cute + hot water showers!) w/ available drinking water and an adorable group hang-out zone (complete with a fire-pit, pre-chopped wood, and benches. We also made great use of "The Flat" which is a huge open field ideal for frisbee, potato sack races, water balloon toss... really any group activity. Each site also has a picnic table and Site 2 even has a rad bench swing! The sites are a bit closer together than expected, but we did not have any problems with that, since we booked two next to each other. Also just quick walk into the cute town of Cambria and a 7 minute drive to Moonstone Beach (great waves to surf and a beautiful beach!) Buddy was great and accommodating - he and his son have done an amazing job with this scenic, relaxing property. We can't wait to come back!

It was a bit of a challenge getting the camper van up to the spot. We had a few attempts. Otherwise all was well. One other little detail was he ran out of filtered water often possibly for to the amount of people there and the heat. Hot showers and hot water for washing dishes was a huge plus. Bathrooms were close by and clean. Nice to have firewood at the ready. It was super quiet at night too!

Everything about this site was amazing! Our family came with 3 tents, 7 people ages 15-81! We had a blast at the Righteous Campsite. Wonderful space , great service, bathrooms, showers, campfire, and cooking bbq great! I can’t say enough we saw deer, turkeys, and blue birds. Clean and so much to do in the area; Elephant Seal Playground, Salmon Creek Waterfall, Moonstone Beach and Kayak in Morro Bay - met halfway between Sacramento & San Clemente! It was the best - thank you!

Buddy has built up a well appointed campground with great amenities to make it super comfortable car camping (hot water shower, what?!). It was right in the middle of town (you can walk out the driveway and across the street to have fresh hot coffee in you hand in 5 min in the morning) but you wouldn’t know it from the campground because of the way it is positioned up the hill with trees camouflaging the signs of humanity below. Righteous is a good spot - very close to the bathroom if you need them middle of the night - but the tent spot is tucked away behind a tree so it feels slightly more private than some of the other spots.
