My goal is to give my guests a happy and memorable experience!  I’m available if you need anything, please don’t wait til after your stay to voice a concern.

Specific Site Overview:

Geoffrey's Radical Site! This Campsite is definitely special for sure!    This specific site was built 100% by my 11 year old son Geoffrey, with love and fun, and all of the profit from this site goes in his pocket!  He is so excited to host this campsite, and can't wait to meet cool people and see the smiles on their faces!  With his money he plans to learn how to cart race to become a Formula One Race Car Driver, as Well as a Rocket Scientist!  TENT CAMPING ONLY, PARKING ABOUT 50 FEET AWAY.

Overall Campground Overview:

We have 13 sites on approximately 3 very secluded acres, and the whole campground is a close walk to the beautiful charming East Village of Cambria!  Over an acre is what we call The Flat, a large open area to run and play.   The 13 campsites with picnic tables are located close to the community bathrooms, fire pit/BBQ area, pond, and open play area.   All of our sites are a great place to wake up to a cup of coffee while you watch the sunrise.  Our beautiful wildlife includes, turkeys, quail, hawks, ducks, frogs, lizards, turtles, deer, raccoons, CA Condors and much more.  DO NOT TOUCH OR MESS WITH OUR WILDLIFE.

On The Flat there is a beautiful pond that you can swim in.  The pond has a dock, a aerator to keep the water oxygenated, fish, frogs, plants and turtles.  The pond was recently scraped, so it has not had the time to grow plants on the sides and bottom, so it is still churning up some clay and the water has not cleared up yet, but it’s just oxygenated rain water and some organic clay.

We have a very nice Community BBQ/fire pit area with seating, two restrooms and a double head shower room all a close walk from all sites.  We DO NOT ALLOW any kind of fire/heat on any part of the property besides the designated BBQ/Fire pit areas and inside the cabin because of high fire risk in our town.  Also, well, we want to promote a community type campground, where socializing and getting to know new fun people is encouraged! That is our favorite part aside from the beautiful nature!  Get to know some new cool Hipcampers!!!  Fire safety is our #1 rule alongside having a great time :-)

On one side of The Flat is our beautiful old growth Live Oak Grove, which is about as peaceful and magical as it gets, it has a tire swing that kids love, the other side is a amazing Old Growth Eucalyptus Grove with some of the largest trees in Slo County, trees 150'+ tall and up to 10' in diameter.  This Eucalyptus area is open to explore, however it is used for my Tree Care business, where I store my equipment as well as wood and wood chips.  This area is about the furthest from the campground area on the property along with my home.

There is a beautiful walking trail through the oak grove to downtown.  If you are at the cabin, and looking in between the fire pit and the bathroom, that is the direction to the oak grove, where the tire swing is, and the path that goes downtown.  Follow the old road.  Once you take the path and get to the street, which is Wall St, take a right and you will go straight to downtown, or take a left and you will end up on Bridge St, which is a beautiful walk up a secluded road through the forest to the Cambria Cemetery.

The back of the property boarders a large ranch/nature preserve which is a dense Monterey Pine forest, and the front side of the property is the old village of Cambria.  The property is elevated above town, giving the feel of being in the middle of the forest with total privacy, yet you are only a 5 minute walk to the village.  The old village of Cambria has everything you could want on a vacation.  We have True Earth Market, which is an organic health food/grocery store with a kitchen that makes a killer sandwich!  Next to True Earth is our historic saloon Mozzis with pool tables, snooker table, karaoke, and the wildest crowd you've ever ran into!  There are lots of shops to peruse including the world famous Linn's Pie Shop.  Amazing restaurants, from old fashioned diners, to fine dining, including Cambria's famous Robin's Restaurant, and our favorite, Madeline's which is a 5 minute drive to the West Side of Town.   Also a 5 minute walk will get you to Vyana Wellness Center, offering massage, yoga, and a variety of wellness classes.  About a 10 minute walk will get you to Cambria's dog park.  About a 12 minute walk will get you to Cambria's Gym One fitness club offering a weight room, cardio room, physical therapy, and a wide variety of classes.  The beach is a 5 minute drive, 10 minute bike ride, and a 35-45 minute walk.  Hearst Castle is a 12 minute drive.  Salmon Creek Trail is a 30 minute drive, which is a absolutely amazing experience!

Though I understand part of the land used for hipcamp IS the owner's living area, it felt uncomfortable driving in with an upside-down flag sprayed painted with black letters saying "police state" and a wood sign saying "land of the free?"

Once more campers showed up (Friday), we noticed the owner removed the "land of the free?" sign - makes sense.

I was uncomfortable until I came back to my campsite at the end of the day on Friday. The land of the free sign was removed from its original post and was no longer seen by us. The flag was still up.

Buddy changed my opinion for the most part when he came around to put out other chairs and fire pits, grading an area for a vehicle to park, and hanging out with people and answering their questions. I think Buddy is a good host and needs to really focus on upkeep of what's already there (i.e. BBQ's!)

I'd stay again. :)

Response from Buddy, the Host, on June 12th, 2020

My house is on the opposite side of the property and in a completely different area than the campground. I got sucked into fighting a bullshit war and lost 34 of my friends and now I’m constantly harassed for living a good life and being a good steward of this land. I’m not here to be politically correct, and if you are uncomfortable please don’t visit again, I’ve gone through enough hell to have the freedom to voice my opinion and live a simple and positive life. Thank you

The Flat was awesome! Lots of trails to walk, close to shops and food, a cozy tent to sleep in and lovely hosts to boot! My kids and I had a fabulous stay! Their favorite past was the tire swing, and hanging out with Geoffrey!

Excellent stay with Buddy. We did a last minute booking after our other plan for lodging fell through and he was very responsive. His property is just off the main road making it a perfect balance of a get away in nature but also easy access to restaurants and stores. The shower and bathroom facilities were spotless. We made a great fire by the side of the pond overnight. Our 2 dogs loved running around, there is plenty of space for them to safely explore. We also took an easy walk to the coastline to take in ocean views. Canvas tent was way better than sleeping in our own tent, very cute and warm with the sleeping bags we brought. We will be back!

This place is such a treat! Buddy and Geoffrey have done an exceptional job turning their land into they’re own little campground with so many thoughtful touches you wouldn’t find at a public park.

Such a fun stay! So many thoughtful touches around the campsite. Loved the Radical site, and slept so well inside the tent provided for us.

We visited Cambria to celebrate a friend’s birthday. This was my first time hearing of Hipcamp and I’m stoked we used it! I wasn’t the one to book to reservation although the check in was very quick and easy from my friend’s experience. Our specific site already had a tent set up and luckily there was still room for the 2 extra tents we brought. There are only 2 toilets for the property so you may find yourself waiting but bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We drove to the nearby beach in San Simeon during the day (definitely need to drive but it is fairly close).
