The Cabin is a magical place! Everything about it is cozy and unique! On the main level, The Cabin has a full size kitchen with hot water sink, gas range and oven, full size refrigerator, a very comfy queen futon, TV, DVD player, wood burning mini stove (so cozy and romantic!), electric wall heater, and more. In the loft is a very cozy and comfy queen bed, with a window overlooking the pond, electric outlet, and light. We have a very easy to use ladder that is on hinges. It latches above the living room when not in use to make more space downstairs, and when you need it, it unlatches easy and locks into place on the ground. All linen is provided (Blankets, Pillows, and Sheets for Top and Bottom) and the cabin is professionally cleaned after each guest. We have had many guests say it is the best place they have ever stayed!
Communal Bathrooms: The bathrooms and showers are outside next to the cabin about 20 feet away and shared with the rest of the campground. They are regular flush toilets, but PLEASE DO NOT flush anything down besides toilet paper or our sewer pump will become clogged, and it is a absolute nightmare to clear.
Showers: We have a nice sized shower room with 2 shower heads and hot water, PLEASE CONSERVE WATER! The showers and bathrooms are one structure.
Drinking Water: We have a 9 gallon drinking water filtration system, if emptied, it takes a while to filter in and fill back up, please be mindful of other campers and conserve water.
BBQ/Fire Area: The Cabin is the only site with it’s own fire area and BBQ. Fire pit must use the spark arresting cover. We also have a couple community fire areas.
Parking: 2 Standard Vehicles can park next to the cabin
Overall Campground Overview:
We have 13 sites on approximately 3 very secluded acres, and the whole campground is a close walk to the beautiful charming East Village of Cambria! Over an acre is what we call The Flat, a large open area to run and play. The 13 campsites with picnic tables are located close to the community bathrooms, fire pit/BBQ area, pond, and open play area. All of our sites are a great place to wake up to a cup of coffee while you watch the sunrise. Our beautiful wildlife includes, turkeys, quail, hawks, ducks, frogs, lizards, turtles, deer, raccoons, CA Condors and much more. DO NOT TOUCH OR MESS WITH OUR WILDLIFE.
On The Flat there is a beautiful pond that you can swim in. The pond has a dock, a aerator to keep the water oxygenated, fish, frogs, plants and turtles. The pond was recently scraped, so it has not had the time to grow plants on the sides and bottom, so it is still churning up some clay and the water has not cleared up yet, but it’s just oxygenated rain water and some organic clay.
We have a very nice Community BBQ/fire pit area with seating, two restrooms and a double head shower room all a close walk from all sites. We DO NOT ALLOW any kind of fire/heat on any part of the property besides the designated BBQ/Fire pit areas and inside the cabin because of high fire risk in our town. Also, well, we want to promote a community type campground, where socializing and getting to know new fun people is encouraged! That is our favorite part aside from the beautiful nature! Get to know some new cool Hipcampers!!! Fire safety is our #1 rule alongside having a great time :-)
On one side of The Flat is our beautiful old growth Live Oak Grove, which is about as peaceful and magical as it gets, it has a tire swing that kids love, the other side is a amazing Old Growth Eucalyptus Grove with some of the largest trees in Slo County, trees 150'+ tall and up to 10' in diameter. This Eucalyptus area is open to explore, however it is used for my Tree Care business, where I store my equipment as well as wood and wood chips. This area is about the furthest from the campground area on the property along with my home.
There is a beautiful walking trail through the oak grove to downtown. If you are at the cabin, and looking in between the fire pit and the bathroom, that is the direction to the oak grove, where the tire swing is, and the path that goes downtown. Follow the old road. Once you take the path and get to the street, which is Wall St, take a right and you will go straight to downtown, or take a left and you will end up on Bridge St, which is a beautiful walk up a secluded road through the forest to the Cambria Cemetery.
The back of the property boarders a large ranch/nature preserve which is a dense Monterey Pine forest, and the front side of the property is the old village of Cambria. The property is elevated above town, giving the feel of being in the middle of the forest with total privacy, yet you are only a 5 minute walk to the village. The old village of Cambria has everything you could want on a vacation. We have True Earth Market, which is an organic health food/grocery store with a kitchen that makes a killer sandwich! Next to True Earth is our historic saloon Mozzis with pool tables, snooker table, karaoke, and the wildest crowd you've ever ran into! There are lots of shops to peruse including the world famous Linn's Pie Shop. Amazing restaurants, from old fashioned diners, to fine dining, including Cambria's famous Robin's Restaurant, and our favorite, Madeline's which is a 5 minute drive to the West Side of Town. Also a 5 minute walk will get you to Vyana Wellness Center, offering massage, yoga, and a variety of wellness classes. About a 10 minute walk will get you to Cambria's dog park. About a 12 minute walk will get you to Cambria's Gym One fitness club offering a weight room, cardio room, physical therapy, and a wide variety of classes. The beach is a 5 minute drive, 10 minute bike ride, and a 35-45 minute walk. Hearst Castle is a 12 minute drive. Salmon Creek Trail is a 30 minute drive, which is a absolutely amazing experience!

Super fun spot! Buddy was wonderful in being in contact with us immediately and checking in occasionally over our 3 days there. Its literally on the downtown Cambria strip, so perfect easy access but it sits above and a bit tucked away so there’s no noise issues at all. He also recommended an excellent challenging day hike Salmon Creek. Highly recommending this spot!
This place is awesome! You get the camping feel but are right next to the best part of town. Buddy and Kylie were super accommodating. The wild turkeys coming through camp and the frogs sounds at sunset capped it all off :)
This was a wonderful spacious place to camp. A truly beautiful piece of land right in town but with the feeling of seclusion. Buddy was a great and kind host. I would certainly consider camping there again in the future. You can also easily walk into town for supplies in as little as 3 minutes.
This campground is beautiful! Right next to Main Street in Cambria but up on a small hill with a nature preserve behind it, so you see trees and hills all around. You can hear the ocean, seals, and cars sometimes in the distance, but it is very peaceful. One evening a family of deer even walked through the campground while we ate dinner. It's a great location to be able to explore the town and nearby beaches and parks.
Buddy was very attentive and answered all our questions quickly. He is still finishing the bathroom and cabin, but once those are completely done, they should be very nice.
Very family friendly, private place to camp or glamp depending on your preference! Cabin was perfect for the 5 of us with flush toilets as a major plus! Kids had a blast from just running around to swinging on the tire swing and watching the wild turkeys throughout the day. Buddy was an exceptional host, super friendly and answered all my questions promptly. You get the feel of camping while still being really close to the shops and restaurants which is just a few minutes walking distance away!
Our recent stay was so wonderful! I was traveling with my mom and two kids and the cabin fit us all perfectly! There are so many great things about this property- the cabin itself was immaculate, provisions for coffee provided, and great loft up above to sleep two extra people and a super comfy bed down below. The bathroom/shower structure was equally fabulous! Two toilet ares, a big double head shower area in the middle and soap/shampoo provided. The grounds themselves were spectacular! So expansive with incredible views and plenty of room for tents/big groups, or smaller gatherings like ours. We enjoyed an amazing sunset in the evening and cozy morning fog. The camp is situated up above the town so you feel like you are way out in nature but yet just a few minutes walk from town. Buddy was an amazing host, giving us lots of tips on where to eat and things to explore. If only we had more time to take advantage of all his awesome suggestions! He was also super attentive and helpful, while giving us our space at the same time. Overall, I would say if you are looking for a place to stay in Cambria, stop your search here and book this place! You won't regret it, promise.
Buddy is awesome. He was a great host, and he accommodated our very late arrival like an old friend who was just happy to see us. The Cabin on the Flat was even better than we expected, clean, serene, very well taken care of, and dog friendly. One of the highlights of our all too short but entirely wonderful visit came during the early morning hours when we awoke to the sound of our dog barking / alerting us that there was a deer standing just outside the cabin's window. Such a cool experience, and I would totally recommend Cabin on the Flat to anyone looking for a place to stay in Cambria. Thanks Buddy!
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It was clean with wide open space. We enjoyed having a fire. Buddy was helpful with extra directions because we arrived after dark. It would be a great space to camp with a group. Loved Cambria!
