About Star Base 3
Bring your RV, camper, or tent and enjoy our Beautiful High Desert. Gorgeous blue skies and star filled nights. Star Base 3 is conveniently located on 2+ acres overlooking Pipes Canyon mid way between Joshua Tree National Park and Pioneertown. Star Base 3 is a RV station or Tent site complete with 120V 30Amp electrical service, water, and sewer connection. A toilet and lavatory are available for those camping, however, showering is not available at this time.
Also, find a social fire ring area, horseshoe pit, and lovely short walking trail where you'll find many indigenous desert plants and awesome overlook views. Keep an eye out for often seen rabbits, quail, and birds of prey. You'll regularly hear coyotes yipping or calling nightly, and occasionally spot one on the move.

Perhaps, an evening at Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown for great food and entertainment is more in line with your idea of winding down and decompress? Susan and Ed's spot is awesome! They're located in Flamingo Heights, which is a great location from which you can explore Pipes Canyon, visit Pappy and Harriet's, check out the Integratron, or grab brunch at La Copine. Both Susan and Ed were incredibly hospitable and kind -- easy to communicate with and eager to make my experience a good one. Susan is also super knowledgeable about the area and gardening in the desert! I'd definitely recommend the spot to anyone.
Ed and Susan were such great hosts. Their desert landscape garden over looks Pipes Canyon Wash, and it's so beautiful that it seems like a movie backdrop. You can watch the sunset from Sweetheart Ridge, then make a roaring campfire at their nice pit. While the location isn't super remote, with houses next door, you easily forget that with the view in sight. You can even take a walk down into the wash, where you'll be surrounded by joshua trees.
Ed and Susan's space was such a joy to stay at! We ended up renting out the entire property (House, RV, and tent site) because of our group size, and it was perfect and comfortable for all. The area is quiet and gorgeous, with short trails around the property for different views of the desert. Truly amazing! Ed met us at the gate and gave us a full tour of this beautiful property. The house and RV were perfectly clean and had everything we could have needed. Ed was so kind and communicative the entirety of our planning and stay. He even supplied us firewood for the pits, which we enjoyed sitting around while looking at the giant night sky. Susan also left us a jar of delicious homemade mulberry jam! We went to grab a loaf of bread so that we could all have some for breakfast. It was a really lovely way to wrap up our stay. We look forward to recommending this listing to all our friends and also to coming back again ourselves on our next desert trip!
Accommodating and convenient. We appreciated the hosts development of the property which included fire rings, toilet/running water and a perch for a great view. We had a great horned owl perch above our tent in a Joshua Tree and hoot for a bit. Got a look at it too! A gem of a place...
This was a great campsite and a great experience! Ed was a great host and is really interested in making this campsite a memorable experience and place for his guests. The property was centrally located. It was fifteen minutes to downtown Joshua Tree and fifteen minutes to the Integratron. I would highly recommend this site if you are going to be staying in the area and need to be centrally located.
My Friend and I booked this site at the last minute in the midst of a spontaneous road trip. Ed responded right away and was extremely helpful when we arrived.
Star Base is a great little campsite with all the amenities. The fire pit and garden were relaxing and stars were beautiful!
