About Star Base 3
Bring your RV, camper, or tent and enjoy our Beautiful High Desert. Gorgeous blue skies and star filled nights. Star Base 3 is conveniently located on 2+ acres overlooking Pipes Canyon mid way between Joshua Tree National Park and Pioneertown. Star Base 3 is a RV station or Tent site complete with 120V 30Amp electrical service, water, and sewer connection. A toilet and lavatory are available for those camping, however, showering is not available at this time.
Also, find a social fire ring area, horseshoe pit, and lovely short walking trail where you'll find many indigenous desert plants and awesome overlook views. Keep an eye out for often seen rabbits, quail, and birds of prey. You'll regularly hear coyotes yipping or calling nightly, and occasionally spot one on the move.
Star Base 3 is a Great Base Camp for adventure excursions or an exploration starting point. Joshua Tree National Park is a highly desirable destination for millions of visitors per year. Perhaps, an evening at Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown for great food and entertainment is more in line with your idea of winding down and decompress? For those wishing to experience serious decompression, check out the Integratron in Landers.

Susan and Ed's spot is awesome! They're located in Flamingo Heights, which is a great location from which you can explore Pipes Canyon, visit Pappy and Harriet's, check out the Integratron, or grab brunch at La Copine. Both Susan and Ed were incredibly hospitable and kind -- easy to communicate with and eager to make my experience a good one. Susan is also super knowledgeable about the area and gardening in the desert! I'd definitely recommend the spot to anyone.
Ed and Susan were such great hosts. Their desert landscape garden over looks Pipes Canyon Wash, and it's so beautiful that it seems like a movie backdrop. You can watch the sunset from Sweetheart Ridge, then make a roaring campfire at their nice pit. While the location isn't super remote, with houses next door, you easily forget that with the view in sight. You can even take a walk down into the wash, where you'll be surrounded by joshua trees.
