I wasn't quite sure what to expect as the First Camper and this spot was so much nicer than I imagined!
Michael is the nicest host, he's there if you need anything and had some great recommendations about local places to take a dip in the water during the day in the summer when it's hot.
There's a pretty open reign as far as where you want to camp. I just pulled my van into the Olive Grove and it felt like I was in a magical wonderland. It was such a quiet, calming night's sleep, just what I was looking for right off the 5. This is a great place to camp during the day if you have a group, since there is so much shade! I could see kids loving camping in the tree maze as well.
Per Michael's recommendation, steep olive leaves in hot water for tea, it's great and there's plenty to go around. I'd love to swing by again on a future drive up the 5! <3
We had a lovely night camping out in the olive grove. Michael couldn’t be there but Chris gave us a nice welcome. There was nice bathroom available inside a small building near the camp sites with shower, toilet, sink and hot water, and it looked like there may be some nice outdoor showers hooked up at some point.
While driving up to Oregon from the Bay Area in our VW camper we really enjoyed van camping overnight among the olive trees at Sunrise Farms Olive grove.
We were running pretty late and got in around 10:30pm and Michael was very accommodating, communicating by HipCamp text and meeting us at the entrance with a headlamp to give us a quick tour of where we were staying.
The location is very scenic with a nice picnic table to park next to. We were expecting pretty basic bathroom amenities but were impressed with a quite nice little standalone building with bathroom and shower facilities. We were visited by a very friendly cat and the chicken coup added to a nice atmosphere. We would definitely welcome staying here again!
We camped here for a night ... It's a great spot near 5N to pull over for a night. The host was super nice and responsive. We were the only campers but the site is spacious and offers lots of privacy. Easy access to toilet and showers. They also have a large sink.
We made friends with Tinka, one of the cats on property. She walked around the property with us and hung out around our van. The property was fun to walk around at night. Totally safe fun adventure where we came upon some burning man-esque sculptures.
Great property all around and we highly recommend.
The olive grove was a great place to stop on the way to Lassen. It was a relaxing atmosphere and Michael was a great host. Even though we arrived late, Michael was able to help direct us how to check in. When the water pressure was a little low, Michael came over and quickly remedied the situation. One thing to note is that some of the camp sites are near a chicken coop, with some roosters who are quite boisterous in the early morning.
