Easy access to highway 74, views for days, and a rustic historic location. The Sugarloaf Cafe and Market serves meals and hosts music on the weekends, ending at 9pm. You can grab snacks, supplies, and beers and wine to go back to your site from the Market, and enjoy private vistas of Horsethief Canyon! We are 28 minutes from Palm Desert, right on the way to festivals (hello Coachella, Stage Coach, Splash House) and near the entrance to the PCT. The history of the Sugarloaf goes back to the turn of the century when it was built to house and feed the men and women who built the "Palms to Pines" Highway. Originally the Nightingale estate, the property includes 17 acres of wilderness and graded trails behind the cafe. Campers should secure tents in the case of gusty winds, and choose sites which will provide some barrier to winds... they can come up fast, and are absolutely the reason that the night sky shines so clearly.

Thanks Gabbi for a wonderful stay. You made us feel so welcome.

The campsite is in such a great location to explore the area, and having the Sugarloaf cafe onsite is a huge plus. (For anyone staying here save some room/time - for eats/drinks from the cafe.). A very cool spot with great food/drinks, lovely friendly staff and a very chilled out social vibe.

Thanks again.
