Welcome friends!  Stone Mountain Retreat is on two hundred rugged acres nestled into California’s Central Coast Mountains.  It has long been a best kept secret of the central coast and was recently purchased from an amazing family who loved and stewarded the land for over 100 years.  It is our intention to provide our guests with the best environment to embrace their imagination, experience freedom, and create a destination for you to build fond memories.   “Once we hit the dirt road the landscape drastically changed and it was as if we were transported into a forest fairy tale. The first animal we saw was a small fox then a family of deer. Our son was stoked! Stone Mountain Retreat is truly one of the most incredible places we have ever visited.“  This is your home. We want all of our guests to know that when you arrive to Stone Mountain Retreat within the mountains of the central coast, you immediately feel as if you've come to the right place.  The energy is sacred, and we aim to provide a sanctuary where you can be your authentic you.  You deserve the best – and deserve to be a part of something that matches what you are worth, and the unique gifts this life has to offer you along your journey.   Immerse yourself in the experience.  We recommend radio off, sun roof open, and windows rolled down!  As you make your way to the property, you’ll start your journey up a private 3-mile all-weather graded access road that takes you into a natural reserve bordered within state parks territory. Truly known for its own ecosystem, this land is built for nature to thrive at its finest—sun peaking through the canopy of oak, maple and laurel trees covering the open road, stream trickling alongside your car, fresh mountain air...  Stone Mountain Retreat is the central coast’s Secret Garden, and is well-known for breathing life into all that come and visit. Although minutes away from local attractions and adventures of the beach and city, guests will have the unique experience of true seclusion as they approach the property.  Our retreat property provides privacy to be free, awake the adventurous heart, and remind us all that it is okay to be a kid again. ABOUT OUR FIRST SITE: Nicknamed COPAIBA for its organic ability to heal, Copaiba offers a 1/2 acre which can accommodate an additional 5-10 tents comfortably surrounding the site, currently has a 20' bell tent with a queen bed to sleep 4 comfortably with an additional portable blowup mattress guests can bring in (Guests should bring their own linens for the queen bed), an amazing outdoor shower enclosure (BRING BLACK SHOWER BAGS TO HANG for WARM WATER if desired), hammocks, porta-potty restroom w/ sink, dishwashing use by the water tank (USE BLACK HOSE W/ GREEN CUT OFF VALVE), kitchen area with kitchen utensils, Hans crafted eating and tree tables,, trash bins, and plenty of adventure to with a short hike to the top of the property for stunning 300 degree coastal views of the mountains and ocean.  We call it SOARING EAGLE - our meditation spot, and the sunsets are EPIC—a moment to breathe and be grateful for a unique connection with the universe, God and appreciate all we’ve been given.  We often find ourselves and guests using the panoramic mountain top for yoga, meditation, and/or reading in one of the provided hammocks. Look up. As night falls, you’ll find yourself relaxing, and watching the stars.  There are various solar lighting features we have included to increase lighting throughout the grounds, to include a sea of fiber optic butterfly’s. Wildlife is calling you. As a guest, you’ll get to experience many of the friendly animals on the property - deer, foxes, wild turkey, lizards, and bird watching – we see many hawks, blue jays, hummingbirds, swallows, woodpeckers, robins, finches, and owls. Exploration and visitation. If you wish to explore the town - We’re close to local favorite destinations within San Luis Obispo County - Here are a few of the local favorites we love right next to us: See Canyon Fruit Ranch (3 mi), Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards – Live Music/Events on Weekends (3.4 mi), Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort & Spa (5.7 mi), Avila Valley Barn (6.1 mi), Avila Hot Springs (6.4 mi), Ontario Ridge Hiking Trail (6.4 mi), Bob Jones Hiking Trail (5.5 mi), and Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa, Avila Beach Resort – Golf, Concerts & Festivals (7.4 mi), and Downtown SLO Farmers Market on Thursday’s (13 mi). Connect with your environment.  As a retreat property, it is not uncommon that you may find others enjoying themselves as you venture throughout the grounds.  Feel free to introduce yourself and make a new friend. We vacation rent our main lodge, and often host a variety of day retreats on the weekends that are offered to the community.  We love the idea of connecting with nature, self-rejuvenation, and community. The property offers you every opportunity to connect with loved ones, friends, but more importantly—yourself.  “The most important and fulfilling work we as humans can do on this planet at this time is to reconnect to ourselves, to one another, and to the natural world.” All of the best stories of reconnection start in the same place; a state of total despair. The journey begins before you’re totally aware of it. The call to return to nature - your true nature - comes from deep inside and often manifests as chaos in life before you really begin to pay attention.  If you slow down and take a moment to listen, you might hear the call before it intensifies. This is the way of forest bathing. We welcome you to come to Stone Mountain Retreat and make it your own. Respect the land and all things within it. Leave your mark by building stone stacks.  Experience life. Embrace freedom. You deserve it. Unplug and Reset.

We loved our time at this campsite. We were not expecting it to be so well equipped, which was a nice surprise as we had come with the bare minimum of cooking supplies. Our four and two year olds had a great time gathering rocks, sticks, etc. The site is very private and has the cleanest port a potty I have ever used.

The site was a very nice clearing king the canyon tucked away from the hustle of the city. If your goal is to unplug and get away from it all this is the place. There is good accomidations including a power strip for charging your camera to take all of the pictures you will want to remember the beauty. The only thing that you may want to think about during the summer months is a good amount of bug spray/ citranilla candles due to the large amount of mosquitoes and nats which love to hunt during dusk and dawn. We really enjoyed the host who were there to answer any questions we had and were very accommodating

Chad has a very nice area set up on his property; really unique canyon and landscape, and lots of animals to see! We appreciated his willingness to help us with anything we may have needed. We look forward to seeing what Chad has in store for the land in the future!

Copaiba was amazing! We absolutely loved the Yurt and the whole site set up. Chad was extremely helpful from the start of contact with setting up accommodations for our group and answering all my questions about the site and site space. The downer was we couldn’t have a campfire, but he made that a point from the beginning and in the site detail. We made the choice to book the site anyways. :) Oh and the yellow jacket season was in, so be mindful of late summer and fall camping, because that’s when they come out. There is also an amazing hiking trail that takes you up to the sunset ! It was beautiful!!!!! we would love to book this place again in the future!!
