Nourish yourself in nature in this luxury tent on a piece of property situated near the Los Padres Forest.  You can't help but completely relax with the vibe that envelops you as you step foot on the ground, and  takes you back to a slice of days gone by.   The main house is about 300 feet away from the tent, and you have a beautiful bathroom close to the tent with an indoor toilet and shower.  To one side of the tent is a large picnic table for only you.

The property is completely fenced in, and just a 5 minute walk to the Carmel River, and a 1/4 mile hike to Los Padres Dam.  We are 25 minutes from the Carmel Valley Village.  You'll need to bring your own food supplies, and water.

There are two other rentals on the property, but each has it's own privacy the way they are situated.

There are chickens, and yes, a rooster that make up part of the eclectic farm.  We also have one very friendly dog, Ruby, and one cat, Cleo.

We absolutley loved staying at such a charming place! It was very clean and had beautiful landscaping. Quiet comfortable, and cozy place to stay. The host, jeff, was very kind and friendly and offered us fresh fruit growing on the property. We are looking foward to visit this amazing find again in the future.

If you want to experience the Real California, the Quail’s Nest and the whole compound that Jeff and his wife have created at Star Route is the place for you. Set way deep into Carmel Valley, you’ll be transported back into time when Farm life ruled the state. Nestled under a grove of live oaks, you can wander the grounds and pick raspberries or grapes from the garden or just chill out by the chicken coop or dove cote. Despite being 20 mins. from “downtown” Carmel Valley, the curvy ride through the mountains is worth the reward of mountain vistas and vineyards below. Jeff was an amazing host, and very accommodating. If Shabby-Boho-Agri-chic is you’re cup of tea, this is the place for you!

What a gorgeous escape! The property is absolutely beautiful and hosts friendly and helpful - especially Ruby the dog :) Enjoyed some raspberries and grapes from the garden and a hot shower and warm tent at night (Jeff set me up with a super easy to use propane heater that was perfect!) This is a lovely place to stay to escape and enjoy nature. Wish I had more time to explore the area, but did enjoy strolling the grounds and visiting neighbourhood animals and simply hanging out in the sunshine, tucked in amongst the trees and hillsides.

Fair warning: the road to getting here is quite twisty but absolutely gorgeous and very scenic - having a powerful set of wheels helps!

This stay marked my first use of Hipcamp. I love my experience and Jenny (my gf, who’s birthday motivated the trip) enthusiastically says the same!

Jeff was warm and responsive throughout. The tent site was super cute and thoughtfully arranged. Jeff seems quietly proud of what he’s made to offer and he should be! We highly recommend to the extent that we plan on going back! Thanks again Jeff!

P.s awakening to the fullsome calls of birds is delightful.

We loved the little getaway. Jeff was a great host and gave us a quick lay of the land when we arrived. It was a cold night but we were quite comfortable with the heater inside the tent. It was a beautiful getaway waking up to all the sweet animal noises and we'll be back in the near future. Thank you Jeff.
