Creekside
John’s land was exactly what I was looking for, beautiful, peaceful and welcoming. I stayed at Creekside and could hear the running water and frogs all night, it was blissful. The amenities were easy to navigate and there was nothing I needed that wasn’t available. John was nice and helpful :) The location was great for local hikes and I saw a family of dear on site the morning I left. I’d definitely stay again!

Stargazer
You Will Love It
My boyfriend and I had a great time at John’s campsite. Beautiful little creek with swimming hole and waterfall. Highly recommend you skip bringing any cookware as John has a plethora of pots, pans, cheese grader, coffee press, spatulas, etc. The water is fresh onsite - don’t need to worry about bringing drinking water. Recommend you bring a little wagon to transfer your belongings from the parking lot down the pathway to your campsite. It might save you a few trips. Shower had hot water which was a plus. Stargazing was exceptional. Fell asleep to shooting stars out of our tent window. Recommend you purchase some fresh honey from John’s bees as well. Delicious. We planned some fun adventures nearby too — Eagle Creek Rafting (highly recommend their rafting company and only 10 minutes from the campsite). We also soaked in the hot springs at Remington Hot Springs (only 20 minutes from campsite). For food nearby, John recommended we check out Kern River Ceviche Company. The people that worked there were very nice and food there was better than most coastal fish joints I’ve been too. They have lobster tacos, shrimp tacos, mahi tacos, and also have meat options like carne asana or chicken tacos/burritos. Ceviche was incredible. Thank you for the amazing time John!

The Playhouse at Spirit Walk
Relaxing weekend!
What a beautiful, quiet, relaxing weekend! My boyfriend and I loved staying at the Playhouse- it was such a cozy, comfy space. We loved cooking in the communal kitchen, the sound of the creek all throughout the land, the labyrinth, the beautiful trees. We drove about 20 mins away to go on a hike and to explore the hot springs which were wonderful. This was a great weekend getaway, would definitely recommend!

heavenly solo retreat
what a gift it was to be at spirit walk. you can feel the intentionality and care with which john has cared for the land, and the spirit of the land is really singing in return. i had the good fortune of being the only person camping on the land while i was there (mid-week), and the creekside site was divine. i had plans to go into sequoia park, visit the hot springs, etc, but just ended up staying at spirit walk and soaking up the beauty there. the creek was flowing, and i could swim privately in the cold water by a little waterfall. so rejuvenating. and john's effort and attention to detail means that all of the amenities are well-taken care of: the ample bear boxes that can hold your cooler, groceries, etc; the stove, sink, and cooking supplies (byo oil, plates, etc, but pots and pans are covered); the firepit and thoughtfully organized wood and kindling; the compost toilet; and the well-maintained trails. also worth noting, i felt 100% safe with john (and at the site in general) as a single woman, which isn't the case everywhere. it's also great to feel tapped into some wildness but be several minutes from a small town. would definitely recommend this retreat to any folks looking for an intentional space to reconnect with nature. thanks john!

Perfect spot to reconnect w/ Spirit
Beautiful land to experience silence and nature at its finest. I came here to get away from the LA scene for a few nights and really shut it all down to just listen and boy was this the perfect spot. I ended up having the entire grounds to myself with the low in the 30s overnight but between the fire pit and supplied firewood, the beautiful creek and the moon to light up the site, it was ideal. I really love the intentionality John out into this space from the signage, guidelines, lighting on the steps, hot shower and overall energy. Highly recommend for anyone thinking of getting away, reconnecting with spirit, nature and themselves.

The Playhouse at Spirit Walk
exquisite
i had the amazing fortune of being on the land all by myself for three nights. what an incredible experience! to be able to delve so deeply into silence, the sweetness of late winter, the cleansing of the river, and the medicine of the trees was a gift i had dreamed of. i made sacred fires, walked the labyrinth with a pair of golden eagles circling overhead, followed bobcat tracks around the land, and stargazed during a new moon. at the end of each day, the hot shower was absolutely divine. when i shared how special my experience was, my four year old told me she was going to practice being silent so she could be the first kid allowed to stay at spirit walk. i’m all for that practice, no matter the outcome! perhaps someday when she’s grown, she’ll get to experience it. thank you for this magnificent opportunity to drop in and be with Earth. it was everything i needed.
