Two words: worth it!
This was my first Hipcamp experience and if Mike’s place was anything like the rest of these then I am ALL-IN! This was AWESOME! The instabook was super easy and Mike was response with communication even though we only gave him a couple hours notice with no advance reservations. He gave us a very warm welcome and was a textbook host. He clearly cared about making our experience the very best it could be and went out of his way to take care of us without getting in our way. I won’t share the specifics of the generosity of his hosting because I don’t want to obligate him to future travelers but I’ll just say that Mike is the kind of guy you want to have a beer or a glass of wine with and be buddies with. It was a privilege to be able to step into his life for a day. His listing under-promises and over delivers as well. In addition to the chicken coup - where we DID get to grab a fresh egg for breakfast, he also had a cow, a lamb, a sweet old dog, and two horses. He let my kids feed the cow and pet the chickens and they were over the moon. He may not have mentioned the cow and lamb because I don’t think they aren’t long term but for now they are there and it is really special. He also had a brand new volleyball court that may/may not be available to travelers - I didn’t ask. Our site had a stocked fire pit next to the pad with two adirondack chairs that made for a beautiful evening under the stars in the still silence of the country. His place is spread out and spacious and relaxing. Everything else in his listing is as listed. Water, power, dump station, picnic table with fake grass matt, etc is all well located on the pad. Oh and everything is brand new and he has plans to keep improving. We want to go back again and are already planning our next trip.
That’s the long story on the value. Short story is “Worth it”!
Mike was a great host. Super friendly. He has wifi and full hook up for RVs; water, sewage and electrical. The last was super important since it was 104 degrees and we were able to run the AC until it cooled off in the evening. The picnic table has a large green turf under it already so we didn't need to haul our ours. There were horses, a sheep, a cow and some chickens. He let our 6 yr old check for eggs in the morning for his breakfast. There was one! He was super excited. It was delicious. The only SLIGHT drawback, if you can even call it that, was there was another RV parked nearby but not that close. When picking the site on HIPCAMP Google Map picture, it looked like there were only 2 sites and we picked #1. On the map it looked like site #2 was not right next to site #1. Just a little unexpected. The folks next to us were also very nice and we barely saw them. There was a very vocal cow on a nearby farm that night. Other than that it was a very quiet and pleasant evening. Bonus was the bottle of wine Mike left at our door WITH an opener! Very thoughtful.
Wonderful ranch in wine country
This is a great place to camp while still practicing social distancing. I loved the fact that this HipCamp has full hookups, a rarity in the HipCamp world.
The ranch is located at the end of a gated road out in the beautiful Templeton wine country. Very secure and tranquil. The hosts are wonderful people who are generous and attentive. Our dog loved roaming free on the ranch and found a new best friend in the host's cute little dog who goes by the name of Benny. All the farm animals (chickens, sheep, cow, horses) were an extra treat.
I truly enjoyed my stay at South Brady Ranch!
Great stay at south brady ranch
My friend and I had reservations elsewhere, but they fell through. We were really lucky to find Mike Brady and Social Distancing in Wine Country. He was a superb host, very attentive, and his ranch was full of wonders. We even had our own private rodeo across the way. And Abigail, our Cockapoo, got to roam free and make friends with the Brady's dog, Bennie, and a little neighbor next door. I feel very fortunate to have had the experience of staying at South Brady Ranch.
This was an awesome setup and perfect for my 31’ Class C RV and my friend’s 24’ toy hauler trailer. The electrical and water hook-ups worked perfectly.
Mike was great and very welcoming! Definitely exceeded our expectations.
Mike was a gracious host and the property was awesome! The amenities were great- full hookups, a fire pit, fire wood, picnic tables, extra seating, fresh eggs, and plenty of room for our dog to run around. We are already considering planning a trip to come back next year. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Not worth the $70
It’s great that hook ups , water and dumping is available. We were just looking for a semi-secluded spot to stay the night with our 3 dogs. Since we booked last minute we didn’t see or speak with the host. The properties / ranches nearby were clean and kept up, this one was not. Piles of debris lined the fencing. We were about 10 feet from the next camper and one more on their side.
There was a cute friendly cow, nice horses and some chickens. Fire pits and chairs for each spot. There was lots of old wood far from the pits but We weren’t sure if that was for anyone to use. It was too windy and lots of very dry brush so We opted not to make a fire, but the neighbors did. My biggest problem was the amount of dog poop right around our side of our camp. Definitely disappointed for our first Hipcamp experience.
